    Family-friendly & Fabulous service

    rating11 Jun 2026

We had a fantastic stay at the Village Hotel and would happily return. The staff were always friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, making our family feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. One of our favourite parts of the hotel was the relaxed atmosphere around the Starbucks reception area. It was the perfect place to sit, unwind, grab a coffee, and spend time together. The hotel is very family-friendly, and the team went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed during our stay. The leisure facilities were outstanding too. The sauna, jacuzzi, pool, and gym are genuinely a cut above what you would normally expect from a hotel. The gym in particular is elite compared to most hotel gyms we’ve experienced. The location is also incredibly convenient, with a bus stop directly outside offering quick and easy access to the city centre. Having a supermarket and service station just across the road was an added bonus.Overall, a great experience with excellent facilities, a welcoming atmosphere, and a convenient location. We would definitely stay again.

    Functional clean hotel. Some disappointments.

    rating08 Jun 2026

I stayed at this hotel for three nights. The welcome upon arriving was very nice and friendly, and was also informative. My room was spacious and clean, but to say there was no view is an understatement. The shower was spacious and good, but there was no conditioner included. Coffee and tea were available in the room but no hot chocolate or biscuit. It is strange that unless requested, the rooms are routinely not serviced daily- although they would be if requested. I requested a vegetarian burger for dinner one night, but only one vegetarian item was available from the menu, and that was pasta primavera. In a venue that wasn't an Italian restaurant, this was bound to be a disaster, so I left it. I was quite shocked that a 250 ml glass of red wine was also more than £12! The noise from the sports on TV was also oppressive. At breakfast, again, there was no vegetarian cooked option, such as veggie sausages or veggie bacon, etc. It does seem as if the hotel has quite a lot of good facilities, such as a gym, pool, Starbucks, etc., but I just found it to be quite functional and trying to appear like a high-quality hotel but actually cutting corners and capturing money as much as possible. It is also quite farside out of central Edinburgh- although I worked out the buses quite quickly and they are relatively frequent. It is probably a good option for families, and there did seem to be a lot of those, but I couldn't say that I felt 'looked after' by the hotel. The overall feel was like a Travelodge but it was more than £120 per night.

    HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE KEEP AWAY

    rating15 May 2026

We had a horrible experience at the Village Hotel. A “4 star” hotel would never treat their guests like this. When we arrived we were kindly greeted at the reception by a young man, but that’s when the good experience ended. After exploring the bar we arrive at our room and got ready for the night however we quickly notice that not only is their a dirty footprint mark on one of the pillow cases, but there is also a large orange makeup stain on the bedsheet. The room we had bought was a 4 person room however, there was only fixed for 2 people. Appalled we go downstairs to inform the staff and are told that they would fix the issue. After an exceptionally long wait, we finally get the new sheets, however not only did they forget half the sheets, we were also expected to fix it up ourselves. While we were changing the duvet sheets we catch a glimpse of the actual duvet which is covered in what i could only describe as piss stains. Absolutely disgusting. We go downstairs for a second time to inform the staff of the situation and are told that they would find a new duvet and that they were sorry for the situation. However 15 minutes later the staff comes up with a new duvet with a new cover on. Already sceptical my daughter asks me to check the duvet inside the cover as it is strange they made us put the covers on ourselves, but now they decide to put the covers on 🤔. The “new” duvet is the SAME piss stained dirty duvet from before, they just put a new cover on. So either they just didn’t want to find a new duvet and tried to pull a fast one, OR all of their duvets are dirty and they thought keeping the old one was the best option. I don’t know which is worse. At this point it is almost midnight and we are tired so we storm down to the lobby with the dirty duvet in hand. This time the staff deny that it is the same duvet and even say there isn’t even a stain on it where we have to physically point out where they are. Taken aback the staff back down and agree that it is the same one and promise to find a new one as well as more towels (as they only fixed the room for 2 people). 15 minutes later we get the new duvet and sheets. Absolutely horrible experience and the staff denying their part in the matter was appalling. The bad experience doesn’t end there. There was mold in the bathroom and in the shower. The shower floor was dirty and stained. The breakfast was stale and the juice was watered down… how do you mess up juice??? Horrible experience would NOT recommend STEWART CAMPBELL, General Manager at Village Hotel Edinburgh, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent stay with us at Village Hotel Edinburgh.I would like to sincerely apologise for the issues you experienced during your stay. Accessible rooms?

    rating10 May 2026

After a number of emails (I am in a wheelchair and can no longer talk) repeatedly asked to call , even after explaining " i cant talk". In the end my accessible room was booked over email.Room bog standard, wet room flooded and I mean flooded after short shower. My main concern was that the accessible room was on the third floor if there was a fire i would have to wait on someone coming with an evac chair! This is something ALL hotels should consider On a positive Staff were very polite and lovely. STEWART CAMPBELL, General Manager at Village Hotel Edinburgh, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent stay at Village Hotel Edinburgh.Firstly, I am very sorry to read of the frustration caused during the booking process. Having already explained that you were unable to speak, I completely appreciate how disappointing it must have been to continue being asked to call the hotel. This should have been handled more appropriately and sensitively from the outset.I was also sorry to read your comments regarding the wet room flooding following use of the shower and I appreciate the inconvenience this caused during your stay.In relation to your comments regarding the accessible room location and fire evacuation procedures, guest safety is always our highest priority. The hotel operates strict evacuation procedures which include trained team members and specialist evacuation equipment for assisted evacuations where required. However, I do fully understand and appreciate your concerns and feedback regarding room allocation for wheelchair users. That said, I was very pleased to read your kind comments regarding the team and I will ensure your feedback is shared with them personally.Thank you again for your honest and constructive feedback.Kind regards,Stewart CampbellGeneral Manager

Convenient and functional, but expensive for what it offers

    rating30 Apr 2026

I stayed for one night and chose this hotel primarily for convenience. It works well as a base for exploring Edinburgh, but it is very much a functional rather than characterful place to stay. My room on the second floor had a great view of the roof of the gym. The hotel was busy during my visit, including hosting a large school group, which inevitably changed the atmosphere. To their credit, the group was kept largely separate in a roped-off section of the bar and grill, which helped contain the impact.Food in the bar and grill was straightforward and reliable rather than memorable. I opted for fish and chips, which was perfectly acceptable and about what you would expect from a hotel of this type. For whatever reason, ordering from your table via the Village app wasn't working and all drink and food orders had to be made at the bar. Overall, this is a practical, predictable option that does the basics reasonably well. However, once you factor in the room rate, food, and extras, it does start to feel relatively expensive for what is ultimately a fairly standard, chain-style experience. STEWART CAMPBELL, General Manager at Village Hotel Edinburgh, responded to this review Dear nobodytoknow,Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback following your recent stay at Village Hotel Edinburgh.I appreciate your balanced comments and I’m pleased to read that you found the hotel convenient for exploring Edinburgh and that the team managed the school group in a way that helped minimise disruption to other guests within the Pub & Grill.I’m also pleased to see that you found the food reliable and enjoyable overall, although I am sorry the ordering functionality within the Village app was not working correctly during your visit. We do occasionally experience technical issues and I appreciate the inconvenience this can cause when guests are required to order directly at the bar instead.I also understand your comments regarding value for money. Whilst we aim to provide a modern full-service offering including extensive leisure facilities, Starbucks, Pub & Grill and convenient transport links into the city centre, I do appreciate perceptions of value can vary depending on individual expectations and travel purpose.Thank you again for your honest and constructive feedback and I do hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future.Kind regards,Stewart CampbellGeneral Manager
