    Great stay after initial problems

    We booked in on the Sunday & were given an upgrade which was lovely, however when we got to our room we couldn't get the air con to work. We called Reception & they said there was a problem with the system, it would've been nice to be advised of this on check in. When we went to dinner we found that we couldn't have the cocktails that we would've ordered as they didn't have all the supplies required, we then went into the bistro to find that the food we wanted to order was not available. At this point Lyndsey, the bistro manager stepped in & spoke with the chef, she arranged an alternative which was delicious, she also insisted that we had breakfast the following morning to compensate for the earlier problems. Lindsey's professionalism saved what could've been an awful birthday weekend, thanks again Lyndsey. The hotel is in a perfect location & all the staff are fabulous & professional.

    My experience was warm and lovely at HDV Exeter I stayed for dinner bed and breakfast The food was great, high quality fresh ingredients The service was excellent, thanks to Lindsey, Maryam, Ellie, Cassius, Hellen, Lidia, Martin and Tobby, chefs James, Marzana and Shaun.

    Really nice hotel located centrally in Exeter. Good facilities and great staff.     Another amazing stay. Love my visits here. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. Beautifully furnished rooms, comfortable beds and good facilities. Lovely welcome at reception by Toby and Paul. Prior to my visit I asked Paul to assist me with some surprises for my daughter's anniversary. Paul arranged these perfectly. Delicious new summer menu at the Bistro which we enjoyed very much. Sage is very kindly and patiently teaching me about wine, choosing different wine each night to compliment the food. This is great fun and i am enjoying learning. Excellent dinner service from Lindsey, Sage, Matt, Rhori and Cassius over our four night stay. Beautiful new furniture on the Bistro Terrace.Enjoyed swimming, and spa treatments by Shania and Eve.Standards have improved over the last twelve months, but it really is the staff that make the difference. Little details, I always drink water at breakfast and the wonderful legend that is Helen noticed that and now a jug of water is put on the table saving me keep getting up to refill my glass. Matt has noticed I prefer to eat my dessert with a teaspoon and always serves dessert with that. These little details make me feel so welcome and I can't wait to return next month.
