    Think twice before booking

    rating23 Mar 2026

The hotel is generally the worst I have ever seen. My self and husband booked quickly on another platform and unfortunately did not look at other site reviews. As it was only for one night we where delighted with low price and handy location. The room was awful. Carpet, fixture and fittings all looked like they had been worn out decades ago. The bed sheets, although stained look at least washed. I looked under the sheet and found a lot of black long hair. We turned around and left straight away. Tried to contact owner . No response. My negative review has not been placed, to-date, on booking platform. And it appears to get a surprising amount of good reviews. Please think twice booking this hotel.

Do not waste your money here

I booked this through Booking.com where, inexplicably, the reviews look better. I should have looked here as well. Do not stay here. Even some of the good/reasonable reviews make it clear how basic the accommodation is. In the case of my booking, which I made for my daughter to stay, on her own, after a university open day (the location was the reason for choosing this property) it wasn’t just basic. It didn’t even meet minimum reasonable standards. When my daughter checked in she found that the carpet in her room was wet. According to the email conversation I had with the property afterwards, there was a radiator leak. It is hard to imagine that the room was properly cleaned and prepared and this not noticed, but perhaps it was just unfortunate that a leak bad enough to make the carpet wet developed straight after cleaning. My daughter reported the problem to reception but no solution or help was offered. There were, apparently no more rooms. She was not offered the option of a refund of the prepaid charge if she chose not to stay there, and in any case it was a very busy day in the city, and it would have been impractical for an 18 year-old, visiting a city for the first time to try to find another hotel room at that stage. She had no option but to stay there. Nothing was offered to make up for this, not even extra towels to try to make the carpet less wet. After my daughter got home I contacted the property to discuss this problem. They could not have been less interested in making any effort to fulfil any kind of customer service. I did not even ask for a full refund, but asked them what they thought was a reasonable recompense. ‘You stayed in the room’ was the response. No concern at all about having fallen short. I did try, several times to reach a resolution, but I am now being ignored. It is very telling how a business responds to queries or complaints once they already have your money. A reasonable business with a proper customer service ethos will try to put things right for their clients, even after having received advance payment. This business does not do that. Don’t waste your money booking here.

Weak character, owner has no ambition or passion. Haunted visit.

    rating11 Aug 2025

The receptionist was great! The stairs were nice up to the room. The room itself was made up nicely. However, it had dust, it had old furnishings and a terrible LED type old school light. The lighting was awful and made you feel like you were in a horror movie. The bathroom wasn't furnished fully and the taps were damaged. The bathroom didn't match the room either and the room could improve the lock system. The key they gave us was very weak and made of plastic. I felt this was a cool place because it felt haunted so if you like adventure then this is the place for you! However, if you want a cosy room then go elsewhere that represents Glasgow's West End and has an ambitious/passionate owner. From other reviews they clearly don't care, and leave the poor receptionist to deal with guests behind a protective screen on their own.

    Cold and shabby

    rating23 Nov 2024

First thing we noticed was how cold it was .The lady at reception told us the heating didn’t come in until 5 pm although we checked in at 3 pm. The room was also in the basement and no view at all . Rooms was very small and the old windows did not keep the cold out properly. One of the worst guest house I have been in :( certainly I will not return

    Do not book, disgusting

    rating20 Nov 2024

The WORST hotel I have ever stayed in. Filthy, cold and so run down. It should not even be trading. I knew it was cheap but expected basic not filthy and shabby with a side order of bed bugs. I am a solo traveller so when I saw the bed bugs which I have on camera it was too late at night for me to leave. I was supposed to stay 3 nights but checked out at 6am and went to the novatel where they have been amazing and helpful for not much more money. PLEASE DO NOT VISIT FOR YOUR OWN HEALTH AND SAFETY. Really really terrible oh and forgot to mention how smelly it is because it has a bad case of damp
