    I Would Return

    rating04 Jun 2026

I stayed at the Mercure Hotel on Ingram St. in Glasgow Scotland from May 21 to May 28, 2026. I chose it because I recognized the chain from travelling in France, and because it tis so very close to the center of things, and accessible in a few minutes walk to the Queen St. train and subway stations, and the Buchanan St. bus station. It was very clean. The breakfast was super ample, and had hot and cold selections. As people make a place, I shall mention 3 staff members whom I found especially helpful: 1) ABBY, the front receptionist. She checked me in, and proceeded to answer all of my questions, for the remainder of my stay, regarding logistics. She was not raised the Glasgow, but knows the city exceptionally well. If she ever comes to Boston, I'd love to show her around.) ) ROHAN, Business Manager. He was kind and perceptive, and told me how to catch the airport bus given that the construction in George Sq. had disrupted the route. 3) Brandon, breakfast room server. He was a pleasure to speak with, and helpful in that he told me the difference between Cafe Americano and Flat White coffee. Because I stayed here for a whole I week, I did not request room service every day. But when I needed refreshed supplies, the housekeeping staff was obliging.I had dinner in the hotel's dining room twice, and was quite satisfied; I found this relaxing after being out and about all day. This hotel was undergoing renovation when I was there, and I am told that it is soon to be called LYF. I hope that this review cross references. Angela Lennox, Guest Services / Front Office at Mercure Glasgow City Hotel, responded to this review Dear lmzajac,Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your stay with us.We are delighted to hear that our central location, close to Glasgow's major transport links and city attractions, contributed to an enjoyable visit. It is also wonderful to know that you found the hotel clean, comfortable, and that you enjoyed both our extensive breakfast selection and your dining experiences in the restaurant.Your special recognition of Abby, Rohan, and Brandon is greatly appreciated. We are fortunate to have team members who are passionate about delivering exceptional guest service, and we will be sure to share your kind comments with them. Abby will be especially pleased to know that her local knowledge and assistance made such a positive impact on your stay, while Rohan and Brandon will be delighted that their helpful advice and friendly service were memorable. We are also pleased that our housekeeping team was able to accommodate your needs throughout your week-long stay and ensure you had everything required for a comfortable visit. As you noted, the hotel has been undergoing an exciting transformation. We are delighted that our newly refurbished public areas are now providing guests with a fresh and modern environment, and we look forward to unveiling further enhancements as the project progresses and the property transitions to Lyf.Thank you once again for your thoughtful feedback. It was our pleasure to welcome you, and we hope to have the opportunity to host you again whenever your travels bring you back to Glasgow.Sincerely,GabrielMercure Glasgow Team

Terrible, grim and basically the worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune to stay in

    rating30 May 2026

recently stayed at the Mercure Hotel Glasgow and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. The hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment, something I was not informed about when booking. Had I known, I would likely have chosen alternative accommodation. I could also find no mention of the refurbishment on the hotel's website, which felt misleading. To make matters worse, I had one of the worst nights of sleep I've ever had in a hotel. The bed was terrible, uncomfortable and worn, making it almost impossible to get any proper rest. The room itself was extremely dated, cramped and quite dingy. There was a noticeable unpleasant smell in the room from the moment we arrived, and combined with the heat, it made the environment uncomfortable. The smell in the corridor was also terrible, which only added to the overall negative impression. The condition of the room was poor enough that we genuinely did not want to spend any time there and stayed out as long as possible to minimise the amount of time we had to be in it.To be fair, the member of staff on reception was as helpful as they could be under the circumstances. They listened to our concerns and provided a fan to help with both the heat and the smell, which was appreciated. The issues, however, were far beyond what a fan could resolve. While I understand that refurbishment work can be necessary, guests should be made aware in advance, especially when the condition of the rooms is significantly affected. Transparency would allow customers to make an informed decision before booking.Unfortunately, despite the helpfulness of the reception staff, the overall experience was poor and I would not stay here again. There are many accommodation options in Glasgow, and I would choose one of those before returning. I'd rather take my chances at the Bates Motel than spend another night in the room we were given. Angela Lennox, Guest Services / Front Office at Mercure Glasgow City Hotel, responded to this review Dear Ali,Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback regarding your recent stay with us.We are sincerely sorry to learn that your experience fell so far short of your expectations. We understand your frustration regarding the ongoing refurbishment works and regret that you felt this information was not communicated clearly prior to your arrival. We appreciate your comments about the importance of transparency, as guests should be able to make informed decisions when choosing their accommodation. We are also disappointed to hear about the condition of your room, including the comfort of the bed, the dated appearance, the unpleasant odour, and the overall environment you encountered. This is certainly not the experience we strive to provide, and we understand how these issues significantly affected your comfort and enjoyment during your stay. While we are pleased that our reception team was able to assist and that their efforts were appreciated, we recognise that this did not resolve the underlying concerns you experienced. Your comments regarding the room condition, guest comfort, and communication surrounding the refurbishment works have been shared with our management team for review. We genuinely regret that your stay left you with such a negative impression and that we were unable to provide the level of comfort and hospitality you expected. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention, as feedback such as yours is invaluable in helping us improve.Kind Regards,Anup SinghMercure Glasgow Team

    Give it a miss

    rating25 May 2026

Didn't really enjoy my stay, they are going through renovations but the room I stayed in was very dated, the tv was unplugged and did not have a remote. it was very noisy because its on a main road and people walking and talking on the street can be heard. The rooms definitely don't match the pictures on the website. Angela Lennox, Guest Services / Front Office at Mercure Glasgow City Hotel, responded to this review Dear Starla9180,We sincerely apologize that your stay did not meet expectations. We regret the condition of the room, the TV issues, and the noise disturbances you experienced. While we are currently renovating, we understand this should not affect guest comfort. Your comments have been shared with our team, and we appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention. We truly value your feedback, as it helps us improve, and we hope you may consider giving us another opportunity to provide you with a much better experience in the future.Kind Regards,Joy VillanuevaMercure Glasgow City Hotel
