Poor experience in the restaurant
28 Mar 2026
The restaurant was poor. We arrived for lunch just before 12.30, with view to booking a room afterwards. First of all staff were washing the restaurant floor so we sat at a table and waited. After 15 mins we realised we had to order at the bar. It was difficult to order as the member of staff was not familiar with the menu or the till. When ordering shepherds pie it could not be found on the till, we were told we could not have it. Some one else had to come to the till to do it. When it came it was good. The salad with soft egg and chicken missed out the egg. The lime sorbet was so, so strong in flavour that it tasted of chemicals. The chocolate ice cream replacing it, we had one scoop and they wanted to charge us £7.75 for it. We managed to get a refund of £7.75 after all of this hassle. There was lots other little things not worth mentioning. The coffee after the meal was good. The staff tried hard in difficult circumstances. This experience was not good, so we left and booked in else where. Abdul Ghaffar, General Manager at Holiday Inn High Wycombe M40, Jct. 4 By IHG, responded to this review Dear Copshan789,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re really sorry to hear that your visit to the restaurant didn’t go as it should have. We understand how frustrating it must have been, especially having to wait, not being shown how to order, and then dealing with issues with the menu and your food. We’re glad to hear that some parts were enjoyable, like the shepherd’s pie and the coffee, and we truly appreciate you recognising that the team were trying their best. That said, we know that’s not enough, and we clearly didn’t get things right during your visit.Your feedback is really helpful, and we’ll be using it to improve how we run things and support our team better, so this doesn’t happen again. We’re very sorry we didn’t get the chance to welcome you properly, and we completely understand why you chose to go elsewhere.Thank you again for your honest feedback.Kind regards,Abdul Ghaffar,General Manager
