thank you for your review, we have indeed had a brand new elevator and there were short intermittent breaks whilst testing took place . there was always and offer to assist with luggage and guests moved to lower floors if this was more suitable

We have just spent the weekend here. We got an excellent deal. The food was good, the rooms were lovely and the staff could not have been nicer. We'll definitely be back

Terrible afternoon Tea.
26 Feb 2026
I booked in December 2025 a gift voucher for an Afternoon tea for a Christmas present for a friend. I check out the hotels website for the afternoon tea and it looked wonderful, a classic picture of an afternoon tea. I actually went into the hotel to get the voucher. I was met by a bartender who as he was attending to me cracked every finger on each hand. on reflection l should have left then. My friend and her guest booked the afternoon tea for the 25th Feb. On arrival where seated at a very small table. I have posted the picture of the afternoon tea served. sandwiches barely filled and not buttered. buscuits that looked like they came out of a packet. No fancy cakes, Strawberries or cream. They didn't know the difference between dairy free or gluten free as the friend was Dairy free. Tea was described as hot water knocked stupid. These ladies love an afternoon tea and found this experience to very underwhelming. Very disappointed my friend didn't get the lovely afternoon tea that was Bought for her.

we offer 2 options- highland tea which has sandwiches and home bake selection and scones whereas cream tea has fresh baked fruit scones served with clotted cream, butter, fruit jam, fresh strawberries with chocolate dip.. both served with fresh filter coffee or house teas where we have vast selection of varieties including herbal, all in a teapot to allow guests to choose strength they prefer.

Weekend break

Beautiful hotel and staff...Very good continental breakfast. Lovely little cosy room...can't fault the cleanliness in rooms reception area, but the dinning room is needing some attention to the cleanliness from the window ledges down there was a lot of dust in these areas, and food splashes on walls.I doesn't stop us loving this grand old lady of a hotel ♥️ Hope to be back soon.

Very disappointed.
28 Jan 2026
Very disappointed, decided to have a three night stay for my birthday, meant to be a treat to myself, it's been no treat at all. When you enter the place looks lovely and grand, that's where the lovely Ness and grsndure ends.Beyond the fohet is very tired, scuffs and scratches everywhere, peeling paint and this continued in my room, very old furniture and worn decor. It's really not a pleasant environment.First night I decided to go down to the bar, it was virtually empty as was the restaurant, it is winter I suppose. Now there is no I formation about food availability, nothing on the info sheet in the room, nothing on their website, not even a restaurant menu, so I guess food outside of the restaurant, which shuts at 9 is not available. So at 10pm I went out to try to find food but with no luck, I'd not eaten that day and done a 7jr car journey, all I found was a Morrisons petrol station about 10 min's walk away, just to point out, I'm a blue badge holder. Now on the day of my birthday I decided to try the restaurant, as it had been empty the night before aside from 4 people at 8pm I didn't think I would need to book a table, so at 7pm I take a look ready to ask to see the menu to decide if I wanted to dine or not, I walk in and all the tables have a reserved sign on them, how bizzare. So there goes my birthday meal and a comfortable drink and off to KFC it is and back to my room.I may not stay the third night.
