Very comfortable hotel. We stayed just one night and it was perfect as we were attending a party nearby

    Poor sleep

    rating22 Mar 2026

It's fine for a basic stay. However had a dreadful sleep due to the road noise. Windows (closed) do not offer any sound proofing! Lights are weird, either had to have the main light on permanently or the bathroom, couldn't have both at the same time.

Take absolutely no notice of the negative reviews on this lovely little hotel. The rooms did not smell at all, and the toilet paper was fine as 2 previous reviews said. The staff here are all lovely, the girl at front of house, think her name was Tasha, lovely girl who greeted us with a lovely smile and a welcoming manner. Also Donna at breakfast who my wife had a lovely conversation with, and looked after us fantastically well.I really dont know what people want from a hotel like this, maybe 6 star service, sorry you get what you pay for.Would i come back, too right I would. Thanks to all your lovely staff.

    Far too many inconveniences

    rating02 Mar 2026

Stayed 1 night as a stopover on a long car journey with two rooms for the family. For various reasons this was a disappointing stay. There was a power for at least 2 in the evening, delaying our ability to go to bed that evening as we had an early drive the next morning. The rooms were not accessible as as there was no emergency lighting in the rooms and lifts were out.My mum had limited mobility and needed the lift to get to our room on the 2nd floor so needed to wait for the lift again when power came back on.The staff appeared unable to reassure me that safety protocols were in place. When asked if the fire protection was in place if we stayed, they had no idea. There was no offer to automatically move people to other Accor hotels there is one down the road, if they required. Instead they wanted people to sit it out and if they wanted to move and pay themselves and take on that responsibility.Thankfully it only went on for two hours in the end, otherwise a disaster waiting to happen here. The next morning the fire alarm went off at 7am getting us up and then it turned off after we got up. So more disturbence to an already bad stay. This overall stay was really poor. I do appreciate power cut isn’t expected but the staff didn’t give me any assurance and it felt like reasonable protocols aren’t in place. There was no manager or decision maker present at all the whole period. The next day there was no staff available at all apart from one breakfast employee for a few hours. It felt like staff were just avoiding customers and any complaints. It wasn’t worth what we paid for all the inconveniences. I wouldn’t return at all. Marie Miller, General Manager at Ibis Styles Haydock, responded to this review Thank you Chris for taking the time to review your stay, I am sorry to read of the experience you had unfortunately all of it beyond our control but quickly resolved. I appreciate the opportunity to address the issues with you directly and I hope to welcome you back in the future hopefully without the issues.Kind regardsMarie
