Lift broken and lots of stairs

    rating04 Jun 2026

Great location near Paddington station. Older hotel but has all needed items including fan as no AC, hair dryer, body wash / shampoo in showers. Biggest problem was hotel is devided into 2 sections with 2 lifts and the one lift to our room was broken. So had to climb 6 flights of stairs with large suitcases! We asked for a room on side with working lift and had to take a very much smaller room. Our concerns were met with customer blaming that we should have specified that we had "special needs"ie not walking up six flights of stairs to get to our room even though hotel advertisement reports hotel has lifts available!

    Where do I begin...?

    rating29 Apr 2026

Where do I start ? It was horrible, point blank period. I was extemely disappointed and 10 minutes after getting inside the room, I was on my phone finding another hotel. Clearly do not spare the extra 100/200 £ it might cost : find another hotel !I'll start with the only positive : the location is top tier, like perfect. The tube is 3 minutes away. There are buses that take you everywhere and the neighbourhood's architecture is very pleasingly so British. Now let's talk about the hotel in itself. I booked it for 3 nights with 8 y.o son and after seeing some pictures and experiences on another website, I, very naively, thought the hotel would be just a bit outdated. I do not mind an outdated decoration at all. I do not mind a room being small especially when it's a short trip. But I mind that the room we got, reeked of I thought was mildew. I mind that the bathroom clashed so much with the rest of the room because clearly they could afford some type of renovation (also outdated but at least gives a cleanish feeling to the room).I mind that there are dead flies drying on the walls (inside and outside the room). I mind the multiple, very weird unidentifiable traces on the walls. I mind that the covers on the bed did not look nor smell clean (although anything under them seemed clean.I mind that you could litteraly hear EVERYTHING. From the room neighbours going up and down the stairs to the upstairs room neighbour walking for hours and I could hear every and I say every step. Ask me how I know some room neighbours are French ? Well heard their entire conversation and I happen to be French. I mind that before going into the room, we are greeted by everything the staff members left there : hoover, gallons of body wash, shampoo and more unindentifiable traces on the wall...All in all, I did not feel good nor comfortable at this hotel. After visiting and moving around for hours, your hotel room is your refuge. I felt like I could barely touch anything around me in the room because everything just felt dirty to me. Didn't touch the breakfast either. When I checked out after the 1st night, the receptionnist said that I should have told them so they could arrange something and explained how it is an old Victorian hotel but I doubt he could have deep cleaned this hotel the way it urgently needs to be before the end of my trip...This hotel helped me remember what I need from a hotel room and that there is something as "sometimes even cheap is expensive". For not that much more you could litteraly go from "horrible and seems unsanitary" to "yup the room is clean and smells good, I don't hear my neighbour breathing"So before you book, please remember : the best thing about this hotel isn't about the hotel itself.

    Not great

    rating16 Apr 2026

The prices were low so I didn’t expect a luxury experience. The location is excellent, but it’s really loud during the night as the windows are not well isolated. The breakfast is included, but not great. At first sight the rooms seemed clean, but on my last night I saw a mouse running out of my room which gives me a reason to never go back…

    One night in London

    rating18 Sept 2025

Visited London for one night with my sister, due to brother in law attending the Cleveland clinic. Wanted to book something reasonably priced and on a tube to attend the hospital. Reading the reviews I was very sceptical, but found the twin room to be fine, very clean, kettle with tea and coffee , shower clean and workable. We were on the ground floor. Breakfast was choice of cereal, toast, and then ham, cheese and yogurts. I would happily stay there again.

    Shocking

    rating19 Aug 2025

This was by far the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. I was placed in an attic room, which required climbing six flights of stairs (77 steps). This was not disclosed in the listing, and there was no lift/elevator available. When I raised this issue, the manager told me we were put in the attic rooms “because you are young and able to.” This response was dismissive, unprofessional, and discriminatory. The breakfast advertised was completely inaccurate. What was offered was a glass bowl of boiled eggs and stale toast prepared earlier that morning.A mouse trap was placed at the bedroom door, which raises serious hygiene and safety concerns. The staff were extremely rude when we attempted to discuss these issues, showing no willingness to listen or resolve the situation. The fan in the room was so loud that it was impossible to sleep. Due to this and the above issues, we were forced to leave the property early and pay for another hotel at additional cost. We were travelling for a business course and therefore suffered hugely as we had no sleep. The shower in our room was like a kettle. We were unable to use it. I would definitely stay far away from this hotel!!!!!!!!!
