I'm still angry about this hotel.

    rating07 Apr 2026

This is not a 4 star hotel. No coffee or tea facilities, no kettle, no iron, no fresh water, no minibar, not even a glass to get a tap water. I was told to come downstairs to borrow glasses. In the morning, I couldn't even make a cup of tea and downstairs they wanted to charge me extra for it. This is completely unacceptable for a hotel clearly intended for business travelers. The room is tiny, poorly laid out. The bed is pushed against the wall, sink in the bedroom, no fresh air, no in-room temperature control. The bathroom is moulded plastic and feels like showering in a school dinner tray. Even the hair 'conditioner' was awful - I doubt it was even conditioner. The TV is controlled by an ipad, with no TV guide and limited channels. There's no proper reception - you're expected to self-check-in and out. The 'canteen' is as basic as you could imagine. Plastic everywhere, school-style trays. The room and lobby look nice, but don't be fooled. If this was 2-star, I'd give it a nice review because it looks nice, but I'd still take issue with the lack of iron, tea, coffee, kettle etc. It's genuinely the worst hotel I've experienced and I've stayed in some dives.

    Cetral and clean hotel

    rating18 Mar 2026

Opposite the Tate modern, 5 Minutes Walk to the Southbank of Thames and Millennium Bridge. Only a short distance walk to London Bridge Station and Bus Stop direct opposite the hotel.Modern, warm atmosphere with very small but clean and fuctional rooms. 24h reciption, self check in and out, bar an restaurant, but didn't use the service during this stay. Unahappy with the noicelevel with a room to Southwark Road after I had to change the room from the opposite and quiter side of the building. They have free highspeed wifi but it was often without good service or completly interrupted. No big issue for me personally, but someone who need a fast and stable wifi connections could come in trouble.

Really nice and friendly genuine staff (Charlotte, Christopher and Jef - and a lovely man from Mexico behind the bar)2 nights, on a wet weekend in London. Fabulous location for getting around. Nice room, very clean.Only downside, window side of the bed doesn't have a shelf.

    Consistently good.

Another nice stay at a CitizenM property.Between locations in Rotterdam, Glasgow, Amsterdam and London, I must have spent 100+ nights in this chain over the last 10 years, it's always a consistent product.Beds are always comfy, public lounges are spacious and attractive, staff are friendly and helpful (except the Shoredich location that has unfriendly staff and overcrowded lounges), breakfast and bar service is topnotch.Highly recommended for budget friendly short stays !!

    Never again

The citizenM Bankside has a great location and certainly uses technology and design to mask a stay in extremely tiny rooms—really tiny—with barely any space to hang clothes or store luggage. The room I stayed in was basically a corridor where a double bed was wedged in on three sides, so if, unfortunately, two people are sharing the room, one has to climb over the other to get out of bed. The sink is in the room, not separated, but what’s truly terrible is the thin, semi-transparent cabin (even if frosted) that contains the toilet and shower. The door has a wide gap at the top and bottom, so despite the tiny extractor fan, smells, sounds, and steam all end up in the room. Oh, and for a semblance of privacy, they’ve added a very light curtain to separate the “shower+toilet capsule” from the sleeping area.Another thing to note: at check-in, they inform you that if you want your room cleaned (which I’d consider standard unless stated otherwise), you have to request it via the app on the tablet in the room. But beware—you can’t request it the same morning; you have to do it the day before. Otherwise, like me, you’ll come back in the evening to an unmade bed. So as soon as you enter the room, make sure to set your preferences for the next day.In summary, the price is far too high for the discomfort of the room and the services offered—especially if you're sharing the room. Otherwise, my advice is to choose a different hotel option.
