    Disappointing planned trip to Dunstable

    We were due to visit this hotel on Friday 15th July having booked a year in advance. We phoned out of courtesy to say we would be a late arrival only to be told the hotel was closed for refurbishment. A very helpful receptionist was able to guarantee we had not paid for the trip and would not be charged but this does not take away the fact that IHG did not contact us and we could have had a wasted journey .As IHG members this was not acceptable as we had to find an alternative accommodation that afternoon to enable us to enjoy our weekend away. This was not an easy task when we needed two rooms including one accessible.     Stayed here several times whilst working in Luton. Tend to stay at HIE as you know what you get for the money and here was as expected.Rooms clean. Staff friendly, buffet breakfast with hot and cold selection good and youbhave the option to take a breakfast bap to go.     Expected the worst wasn’t disappointed

    Stayed over Silverstone weekend. Initially looked ok….but that soon changed. Room was reasonable size, found only one bath towel in bathroom for two people. We later found another on a shelf about two inches from the ceiling. An obvious ploy to use less laundry. Just put them in the bathroom. Shower had leak at back so pressure was rubbish. Food in restaurant was over an hour wait and was bang average at best. The highlight six pieces of potato skins, some deep fried bacon and some sour cream for 9 pounds. We got breakfast in a hurry because our coach was leaving early. It looked ok I quickly had some hot food. The bacon and beans were fine but the scrambled eggs tasted like some kind of instant catering stuff it had no taste whatsoever. I had no choice in where we stayed as it was a package and I don’t usually stay in 3 star travel lodges and that won’t change trust me Nick Collins, Owner at Holiday Inn Express Dunstable by IHG, responded to this review Thank you for your review.     Comfortable clean spacious room. Lovely bathroom. Breakfast was ok for buffet. Only snag was parking machine not working so told we were likely to get a ticket. However to date we’ve not had one.     We arrived on the Friday early evening to check in ready to travel to Knebworth the following day. The girls on the front desk were fab and so helpful, we went for drinks and a snack later on and again the girls were helpful and really lovely. The rooms were spotless and perfect for what we needed. I was really impressed with the iron and ironing board in the rooms. Nicoletta, soley, Megan and kitti were all amazing and so helpful, they are a credit to the company! Thank you for a wonderful stay.
