    Not a 5 star Hotel

    This is not a five star hotel. We have stayed in five star hotels and they are infinitely superior to this hotel. The decor and furnishings are in need of updating/refurbishment. The furniture is old and needing replaced and many of the electrics are aged.That said, first impressions were good, check-in was good and we were "upgraded" to a club room. After this it went downhill. The room was adequate, although there was a bit of a musty/damp smell in the room, also the fridge didn't appear to be working, but we were able to live with that. However, when it came to having a shower there was no hot water. After getting the maintenance guy out he advised there appeared to be an issue with one of the valves. I'm surprised this wasn't reported by the previous occupant(s), although perhaps the damp/musty smell was because the room hadn't been used for a while.As a result of the lack of hot water we were moved to another room, however this caused us to eat later than expected as it took about an hour to sort things out.We have now been moved to another room, however this room is quite close to the adjoining bar and on the main road, so it remains to be seen as to whether we get a good night's sleep or are disturbed by noisy bar customers and traffic.All in all, not a great start to our stay, hopefully things improve

    Definitely nothing “calm” about this hotel. If you want a good nights sleep I would avoid completely. It’s so noisy from the bar and DJ that the bedrooms shake! I am all for people having fun but this is another level.     Lovely time at Montcalm

    Had a comfortable stay in a perfect location for my business meetings. The hotel has two restaurants and I had breakfast in one of them, it was good.
