    What a randomly lovely hotel this is! I stayed for one night with my sisters as we had a nearby event. So unassuming from the outside but very cool inside. Rooms are basic but well equipped. Fab rainfall shower in the “wet room” . Bed was comfy and as I always wear earplugs I didn’t find any disturbance from outside. While I like the idea of the games room, library etc, I really would want to be able to make a coffee in my room without having to wander out. Breakfast was quick and plentiful - fresh pastries, tea, coffee and juice available while you wait, and the eggs royale was excellent with perfectly oozy egg yolks. Overall an excellent place to stay: like they say on their website, everything you need and nothing you don’t. Would absolutely stay here again.     Ordered a coffee before meeting a colleague When paying staff member (Ahad) added a 12.5% service charge without asking and would not turn the terminal for me to see…If he’d have asked I’d have added £1, but such sneaky and underhanded behaviour leaves a bitter taste - have been here many times on business lunches in the chophouse, but never again… Hussain Hussain, General Manager at New Road Hotel, responded to this review Dear Ian,Thank you for your feedback.     Good experience overall - we’d stay again

    We stayed at the New Road for 3 nights while visiting family. We were in a large king size room on the second floor. The facilities were good, the bed comfortable and an efficient shower room. Facilities otherwise were good, rooftop terrace (though greenery had been allowed to die) and coffee available their but also on our own floor which included a library room. Two things let our stay down which were out of the hands of the hotel but important to know:The noise from the street at night was very loud which caused some sleep disturbance. The occasional smell from the drainage system but this was occasionally prevalent throughout Whitechapel E1/E2. However I love this area and the staff at the hotel were so helpful. We would probably stay again though ask for a higher floor (noisewise).     This hotel is the best I’ve ever stayed at! So clean, extremely accommodating, food is awesome and the staff are so kind! I haven’t been treated so well ever and I’m older! We extended our stay three times because it was so fabulous here! Top star and top notch hospitality and staff!!! I’m soooo coming back! Thank you so much to the staff!     What a superb little find. Excellent hotel. Decent bar and food. Rooms are small but extremely reasonably priced most of the time. Roof terrace, little library, games room. All lovely additions. Rooms have heaters if needed and air con as well. Comfortable beds. Decent shower. Only issue is perhaps the location - slightly rough area but is clearly undergoing something of a renovation. Can highly recommend this place.
