A Mixed Experience at Notting Hill Hotel

    rating15 Jun 2023

Upon arriving at Notting Hill Hotel, I was initially impressed by its exterior, which exuded an inviting ambiance. However, my excitement faded as I entered the room, where I encountered several aspects that detracted from my overall experience. The compact size of the room quickly became apparent, and while some may find it cozy, I personally felt claustrophobic. The limited space made it challenging to move around freely, and I longed for more room to comfortably navigate within the confines of the accommodation. One of the main drawbacks was the small bed, which proved to be insufficiently sized. My feet constantly hung off the edge, making it difficult to achieve a restful night's sleep. The lack of adequate space compromised the expected comfort that comes with a hotel stay.Another issue that dampened my experience was the low water pressure in the shower. It greatly diminished the enjoyment of a refreshing and invigorating shower, as the weak flow failed to provide the desired cleansing effect. It was disappointing to have such a basic amenity fall short of expectations.Furthermore, the presence of a crooked floor within the room was an uncomfortable feature. Walking on the uneven surface felt disorienting, almost resembling the sensation of being at sea. This unexpected characteristic detracted from the comfort and tranquility I sought during my stay.Despite these disappointments, it is worth mentioning that the staff at Notting Hill Hotel were polite and accommodating throughout my stay. Additionally, the hotel's convenient location provided easy access to nearby attractions and amenities. In summary, my experience at Notting Hill Hotel was marred by various shortcomings. Although the initial impression of the hotel was positive, the cramped room, inadequate bed size, low water pressure in the shower, and uneven floor compromised the overall experience. I hope that the management will address these issues to enhance the comfort and satisfaction of future guests.

    Dirty and unsafe

    rating21 Jul 2020

How can a hotel ruin your vacations in London? This one did! The rooms were smelly, dirty, really old, the windows and doors were really unsafe, the bed was uncomfortable and the bathroom really bad! The only positive thing is the staff, really kind and helpful.

MISLEADING ADVERTISING (NO FREE WIFI!) AND RUDE STAFF

    rating28 Jan 2020

Let me start by saying that I've been in quite a few hotels and hostels, some of them less than stellar, and I've never bothered to leave a bad review. I often travel on a budget and I understand that you usually get what you pay for - I'm not fussy, and as long as there's a bed and the room is somewhat clean, I'm good. However, I've never received such appalling customer service as in this place. Most of the staff were alright, but one receptionist in particular was incredibly rude to me for no reason I could tell, starting from the check-in and then every other time I had the misfortune to interact with her. One of the reasons I chose this hotel was because I needed to work remotely for a day and they claim to have "free wifi". Turns out that yes, it is free - up to 1 giga, after which you have to pay. I (politely) told the receptionist that I did not remember reading this on Booking, and asked if they had an alternative network I could perhaps use.I was told (I quote): "This is a cheap hotel, sweetie. If you want free wifi, go to any McDonald's".Cheap or not, courtesy costs nothing, and I've never been spoken to so rudely in any of the budget hostels I've been to.If this woman dislikes having to deal with guests so much, maybe she should reconsider working in hospitality. She said I was free to go and complain on Booking, which I'm more than happy to do - hopefully this review will spare someone else the pain of having to find a place to work at the very last minute on a Monday morning. This wasn't my first time in London, and it certainly won't be the last, but I'm pretty sure I won't be back to this hotel anytime soon. Nicholas-nottin... M, Manager at Notting Hill Hotel, responded to this review Dear JulesB1991,Sorry to hear you had a problem with our WiFi. We do offer free WiFi subject to the terms and conditions for fair use and subject to availability. Our automatic free, fair use data allotment is actually 4.0 Gig per 24 hours of use per device. However, we are happy to open this upon request. Unfortunately, I did not receive any complaints or requests asking for additional WiFi allocation.Regards,Nicholas Notting Hill Hotel
