    Give it a miss!

This is a really difficult review to write! I will start with the good points, the hotel front desk and kitchen team were brilliant. We had nothing but positive interactions with both. Santosh, Omar and Hadje were absolutely lovely and went above and beyond. The other front desk and kitchen team were lovely but I'm sorry I can't remember their names! This place would be nothing without these people. Secondly the location is brilliant, within walking distance to Pimlico tube and Victoria Station or if you prefer the bus a bus stop right out front for the #24 bus. Now the negative and unfortunately there are too many of them. We were there for just under two weeks, the room we were given was tiny, standard for the UK but still tiny. There was nowhere to hang clothes other than a small protruding rail about a foot long with 3 hangers, glad I brought my own!, no storage or proper shelf in the bathroom to put toiletries and the bathroom was tiny! You had to squeeze in to the toilet around the basin yet still knocked my knees and I'm a small person. There was nowhere to put your suitcase, literally no where it was not in the way that you had to constantly move it. I went down to reception immediately and requested a change which they did for us the following day. The second room slightly bigger, or should I say better configured. The bathroom had more space but still no shelf to put toiletries. The basin was tiny, almost a half basin stashed in an alcove so you could barely fit to wash your face, there were also drip marks from previous guests all down the side. The shower was large and the water was nice and hot. The shampoo/bodywash/dishwash soap was horrible! So glad we at least brought our own shampoo and conditioner! The room was tired, and I mean REALLY tired looking. The walls had smear and drip marks down them which is a pity because the colours were really pretty and calming. We had a dressing table and wardrobe in this room which was fantastic, could at least hang and store our bags out the way, not much room for a suitcase but we made it work. The window was open when we got there so it was lovely and fresh. It wasn't till the next morning we realised that the it was stupidly hot in the room and made it impossible to sleep well but if we left the window open we had the constant 24hr bus and traffic noise so not an option. The second thing was the over powering smell of mould! It was potent. We went out for the day, window left closed and you could barely breathe as the smell was so strong when we returned! Had we not moved once already, I would have asked to move again, but I also remembered the first room smelling faintly of mould too. The lift was useless, took forever to arrive and when you stepped in the whole thing dropped an inch, every single time! It was quicker to use the stairs. Totally out of the hotels control but there was also the people arriving back late at night talking loudly in the hallways, slamming room or stairway doors. The breakfast spread was ok, nothing to rave about but everything was kept topped up. It was the same every day and catered to everyone. Scrambled eggs, bread, spreads, cheese and hams as well as cereals. It did it's job and the kitchen staff kept everything neat and clean. We went early so there was always a seat available, the one time we slept in and went later if was difficult to find a seat...although I think he was possibly the owner? was sat at a table for 6 with his laptop and things spread out so no one else could use either ends of the group of tables! We only requested a room clean twice, the first time it was 3pm and it was still not done, we came back to change and go out again when we had a knock from housekeeping, she refused to come back in 10min so I requested she at least provide clean towels, they never came. Omar at reception was lovely though and helped out with clean ones, he also provided a fan when I said it was stupidly hot in the room! The second cleaner did a great job but left us with no bodywash in the shower so back downstairs to reception to fix things! Normally we take photos of our rooms as a reminder but there was no need, it was not peasant and we will not return. This could be a great place, could be, but it's not and it's definitely not a 3 star hotel, the staff, most of, are 5 star but not the hotel itself.
