SCAM - AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COST!

    rating03 Jun 2026

I WAS SCAMMED, AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS!This was, without question, one of the worst experiences I have ever had with any hotel.I booked and paid for my room in advance online. After travelling to the hotel and arriving with a valid reservation, I was suddenly told that I would not be allowed to check in unless I produced a physical credit card for an additional deposit. At no point during the booking process was this made sufficiently clear, and had it been, I would never have booked this property in the first place. What followed was nothing short of disgraceful.Despite already taking my money, the hotel refused to provide the room I had paid for. Even worse, they refused to issue a refund. I was left standing at reception after a long journey with a confirmed booking, no room, no refund, and no meaningful assistance from staff.Because of their actions, I was forced to find alternative accommodation at the last minute and pay substantially more than I had originally budgeted. The stress, inconvenience, and financial loss caused by this situation were completely avoidable and entirely the result of the hotel’s refusal to deal with the matter reasonably. What shocked me most was the complete lack of empathy or customer care. Not one member of staff appeared interested in finding a solution. There was no attempt to help, no flexibility, and no accountability. I was treated as though the fact that I had already paid for a room was irrelevant.A hotel’s purpose is to provide accommodation and hospitality. This hotel failed at both.If you are considering staying here, be warned: paying for a room does not necessarily mean you will be allowed to stay, and if a problem arises, you may find yourself out of pocket with little interest shown in resolving the issue. There are countless hotels that value their guests and communicate their policies clearly. Unfortunately, this is not one of them.I would never stay here again and would strongly encourage others to think twice before handing over their money.

WARNING TO SOLO TRAVELLERS – ESPECIALLY WOMEN TRAVELLING ALONE

    rating13 May 2026

Dear Customer Support,Thank you for your response.I must challenge the statement that “no complaints, issues, or service concerns were reported by you at any point during your stay.” This is factually incorrect. At approximately 11:30 pm, while staying in accommodation separate from the main hotel building, I contacted reception to report that I felt unsafe due to the behaviour of a group of men congregating outside my room, knocking on my door, shouting, and laughing in an intimidating manner. When no one attended promptly, I called reception again. During this second call, I clearly stated that I felt frightened, requested to be moved to another room, and asked for assistance because I was concerned for my safety. I became so distressed that I was on the verge of calling the police.I also asked for a member of staff to escort me back to reception because I was too frightened to walk alone at nearly midnight. This request was refused. When I arrived at reception, I handed in my key, explained what had happened, and requested a refund because I no longer felt safe staying at the property. The receptionist was rude and dismissive, asked “What’s your problem?”, implied that I was lying, and refused to provide any refund. These events demonstrate that:My concerns were reported to the hotel while I was still in-house.The hotel was given an opportunity to address the situation. The hotel failed to take appropriate action to ensure my safety.I was forced to leave the property because I no longer felt safe.In addition, the accommodation provided was not as advertised. I booked a hotel room but was placed in a separate house away from the main hotel building, which was not disclosed at the time of booking. I was also required to pay an unexpected £100 deposit. As a direct consequence of having to leave the property at midnight, I incurred approximately £300 in additional accommodation costs.Given that the basis for denying my claim is factually incorrect, I request that this matter be escalated and reviewed by a senior case manager. I am seeking:A full refund of the original booking;Return of the £100 deposit (if not already refunded);Appropriate compensation or reimbursement for the additional accommodation costs incurred. While I appreciate the gesture of £25 in OneKeyCash, this does not adequately reflect the seriousness of the safety concerns or the substantial financial loss I incurred, and I do not accept this as a resolution.I would be grateful if this case could be reconsidered in light of the above information.Kind regards,Gemma Taylor

🔥 EXTREMELY SERIOUS COMPLAINT – PUBLIC REVIEW

    rating02 Feb 2026

DANGEROUS, UNHYGIENIC AND COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE – LEFT IMMEDIATELYThis experience was one of the most distressing and unacceptable hotel situations I have ever encountered. We arrived at Park Hotel Ilford in the early hours of 26 January (around 2:00 a.m.) after a long journey. Even before entering the hotel, there was a violent altercation outside the building, involving shouting, aggressive behaviour and a complete lack of control. The environment felt unsafe from the very first moment.Inside the hotel, the situation worsened significantly. The corridors had a strong, unpleasant smell, clearly indicating serious hygiene issues. Despite this, before any proper accommodation was provided, the hotel immediately charged a £100 deposit, without clear explanation or justification. The room we were shown was absolutely unfit for human accommodation: – dirty, stained walls and wallpaper– bedding with a strong, repulsive odour– overall condition so poor that it was impossible even to sit on the bed, let alone stay overnightThis was not a matter of personal preference. These were basic safety and hygiene failures. The situation caused me extreme stress. I was at the absolute limit of my emotional tolerance due to the surroundings, the condition of the room and the overall atmosphere. We informed staff immediately that staying was impossible under any circumstances. The hotel attempted to show us two alternative rooms, claiming they were “better”, but all rooms were equally unacceptable, unsafe and far below any reasonable hotel standard. We left the hotel immediately and did not stay even one minute.Despite this, Booking.com refunded only £10, and the hotel has never returned the £100 deposit, effectively charging us for accommodation that was dangerous, unhygienic and never used. This experience caused serious emotional distress and completely ruined our trip. Retaining a deposit under such circumstances is irresponsible, unethical and unacceptable.I strongly warn other travellers: this hotel is not safe, particularly for late-night arrivals. I will be escalating this matter further through formal complaints and financial dispute procedures.Marcin

    Cheap and cheerful

    rating22 Dec 2025

We got a special discount price, so it was ridiculously inexpensive. Definitely worth it from that point of view. Staff really helpful. Place could be a bit more up to date in that the lobby had too many big cheap sofas, and a painting hanging crooked. Why? Although i would not need more for the price we paid. Clean enough and useable. Bathroom floor tiles all cracked so i had to put a towel down on the floor. Went down to the lobby desk and asked for more towels and quite quickly received them. Quiet enough other than the alarm going off at 7:30am, for no discernable reason.Would go back if i were to get that discounted price !
