    Exceptional service & welcome

    Absolutely exceptional experience at Oulton Hall.As a wheelchair user attending a formal awards evening with my assistance dog Elvis, accessibility and support can often feel uncertain. However, from the moment we arrived, the staff at Oulton Hall made us feel genuinely welcomed, respected and included.Throughout the evening, staff consistently opened doors for me without hesitation, making moving around the venue smooth and dignified. Small acts like this make an enormous difference and did not go unnoticed.The team were also wonderful with Elvis. Despite all the attention his bow tie attracted during the evening, staff never forgot he was there working as my assistance dog. They regularly ensured he had fresh water and checked he was comfortable throughout the night, which I truly appreciated.One moment that particularly stood out was during dinner service, when a waiter discreetly and professionally assisted by cutting up my food. This was handled with such kindness and professionalism that it preserved my dignity completely and avoided any embarrassment — something that means far more than people may realise.I also want to highly praise the accessible facilities. For the first time in a very long time, I used an accessible toilet where I could comfortably turn my wheelchair around and independently lock the door. Sadly many venues still fail to provide genuinely functional accessible spaces, so this deserves real recognition.The entire evening felt welcoming, inclusive and respectful. Oulton Hall should be incredibly proud of the environment and level of service their team provides for disabled guests and assistance dog users alike.Thank you from both myself and Elvis 🖤🐾#ElvisApproved

    Mouldy in room

    Stayed in the hotel a couple of times but unfortunately the second time fell way below standard. First time, staff were friendly, room was clean, and the food was lovely. Second time we were put in a mouldy room. Mould in the corners, mould under the table and all the along the windowsill. Because we had such a good stay the first time round, I wanted to give the hotel the benefit of the doubt, so I wrote a complaint to booking.com requesting a partial refund, because for £200 night, a mouldy room (especially with a child) is unacceptable and way below standard. Unfortunately, the hotel rejected the offer and insisted this wasn’t an issue and it was “only condensation”. There were also a few issues though-out the stay including a key fob which didn’t work which left us locked outside our room for 20 minutes. Again, this wasn’t addressed. Hotel offered me firstly a 15% refund then a 25% refund, which I think for a mouldy room, isn’t acceptable. The hotel was sold out due to a Wembley match on the day, so could not be moved rooms. I really didn’t want to write a review, as I said, the staff and the team were always friendly, but I am disappointed in the lack of accountability, mould is a serious health and safety concern and should be addressed indefinitely. The fact that the hotel hasn’t even apologised for placing us in a room with mould (with our child) but except keeps avoiding the issues is really disappointing.

    Unacceptable hygiene standards and a complete lack of basic cleanliness.

    Late at night, when I got into bed, I discovered a pair of boxer shorts inside the bed, that part of the bed was undone too, clearly the bed had not been properly cleaned and the linen changed after the previous guest. Bathroom taps dirty and unpleasant to touch. Far below basic cleanliness standards and I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience

    Could have been better than 3 review. General areas in the hotel very clean and tidy. Reception person (also does bar) was great. Staff doing breakfast very friendly and efficient. Room - small, but mostly clean and tidy. Lots of water scum on the chrome on the bathroom tap was not good. OK, it is London and hard water, but once per week clean with de-scale cleaner would make a difference. Area under the bathroom door rarely get cleanded. Pretty reasonable shower. Room generally needed some care and attention to the paint work on doors. But room generally good and bed fairly comfortableBreakfast - good and not so. Good choice for hot and cold options. Cold fruit options mostly tinned, but still good. Hot options: good selection but, as with most hotels, the buffet options were tepid/warm. Two ladies on duty were great - happy to sort out toast etc. A reasonable breakfast, but warm not hot buffet is never great.

    Very clean hotel, quiet, basic but with everything required for a pleasant stay. Staff were friendly & helpful, and the breakfast was lovely. I would definitely recommend this hotel & will visit again. Thank you!
