This hotel is great value for money, is in an excellent location and the staff are really lovely. Our deposit was refunded only 3 hours after we checked out which was a great bonus!

    Room roulette

I would love to give a higher review of this hotel, but the first room we were put in was not at all adequate. It had no blinds and the street lights shone directly into the room. The fridge was broken and there was no air conditioner which was advertised in the description. If it wasn’t for the charming front desk staff, Ehab, moving us to a different room we would have had a bad experience. As it was, our stay was excellent for the remaining 5 days of our stay.

    Not worth any stars, appalling!!

    rating11 Jul 2024

This place deserves no star. I booked this room on Booking .com, I thought that at the price I paid it had to be acceptable. The rooms looked decent online, but I was in for a great disappointment when I finally arrived at Simply rooms and Suites. As I approached the exterior of the hotel, it looked promising, they had made an effort to dress the exterior; it was in a lovely address, down a quiet road. That's where the good part ended, before I entered the front door.I was greeted by a chap I later discovered was called Peter; this chap had no skills of communication he was rude and impertinent and aggressive, I knew I was in a poor establishment when his first words were "Do not lose the key, it will cost you £50 to replace". This chap then tells me I will be in the Ground floor room 1. I said to him I specifically asked for a room higher up and not on the ground floor. His response "We have nothing left, take it, we can't change, we are fully booked!.."I already regretted coming to this place, there was no proper reception just a tight little area around the back where vacuum cleaners, scooters were dumped. no restaurant, no bar. Room 1 was here in the back, behind reception.I was told my room had a 'garden view' however the so called garden room was a tiny hovel of a place with sticky floors, no room to move around and a tiny window and a door that led to a horrible outside space with a large air conditioner and some concrete slabs and building rubbish and a small wall that anyone could jump over. Added to this the door itself was secured by two tiny little rotating bolts that provided no security. Worse was to come, the door to my room, could not be locked, I tried in vain to lock the door, but could not. As a woman alone in London, the very least is to be able to lock one's door. I went out to reception and told this Peter my dilemma, he told me there is a no lock policy in the hotel, the rooms do not lock, your card is enough. I told him this cannot be correct, all hotels have locks on their doors. I asked him if he could find someone to repair my lock, his response was "no, I will not, its too late". I knew then that they had my money, this guy this hotel did not care about the clients, or me.At that point it was 1930 pm in the evening, I decided to leave and take a chance on getting a room at the Hilton Hotel down the road, I took my belongings and left. I had been talking to friends , they advised i leave too. I will never return or recommend this place to anyone. I left and did not stay the nightThis place pertains to be something it is not. Don't waste your money.

The worst hotel experience of my life - non habitable room, rat trying to get in

    rating12 Jun 2024

A big problem. I was attending London Tech Week and chose the accomodation as it was close to Kensington Olympia. I arrived at 1:45 on a summers day, and was assigned room number 1 which is a basement room with a tiny window approx 8 inches X 12 inches - totally insufficient to light a 12x14foot room. So the room is totally dark during bright daylight. It felt like a storeroom which had been converted to a bedroom. There is a non-standard door (kind of like a single-panel heavy wardrobe door, with a thumbscrew opener at top and bottom) to an exterior courtyard/ storage yard housing heating/aircon units and a storage shed, bounded with 3 foot high walls, with access to open area (either public land or belonging to other properties?) beyond that. The door opens outwards so it is not possible to block it e.g. with furniture inside the room if there was to be an intruder. As the yard outside is only bounded by a 3 foot wall the yard is not secure.Having seen the room, I expressed my concerns to reception re security and asked for a room higher up in the building. I was told there were no other rooms available, and that I had been given the 'lovely garden room'. As I had prepaid with booking.com, I resigned myself to my fate, returned to the room and unpacked. Inside was dark so I opened the exterior door for light, sat on the bed, and started working on my laptop. I heard some thumping noises outside but did not pay any heed, I assumed it was kids playing with a ball in the adjoining area.... until a rat, standing on the equipment unit outside, poked it's large head around the open door about 6 feet from me. At this point I had been in the room about 20 minutes.I screamed and ran from the room to reception. the reception gentleman first refused to believe me and then went to have a look through the room (I notice he didnt check under the bed) but couldn't see anything. He dismissed my concerns, I told him i absolutely could not stay in the room and requested a refund. he refused, and tried to persuade another female guest, also attending the London Tech Summit, to swop rooms - but without explaining the circumstances or showing her room1. On hearing the circumstances - from me - she was equally horrified and refused to swap. I asked to speak with the manager but was refused. I asked for the managers name and the gentleman's name and was refused. I saw no bait boxes in the courtyard and queried their absence but the gentleman on reception (he later gave his name to booking.com as Peter) claimed not to understand and did not have any awareness of rodent control. He kept referring to a mouse, I repeated many times that it was a rat, and there are no bait boxes in the courtyard. I repeatedly requested a refund, the reception gentleman said he had phoned the manager (I did not hear this conversation, as english was not the first language in use and the call was made in a back room) and that the manager had refused. I stated that the hotel did not meet hygiene standards as there was no evidence of pest control in the yard. I quickly re-packed my belongings and started the process of raising an electronic complaint with booking.com and with the hotel. I then rang booking.com customer services. On first 10-minute wait, my call rang through and was immediately dropped. I then rang again and was picked up after 15 minutes. During all of this, the reception gentleman and another lady from housekeeping/reception were loudly discussing amongst themselves, mocking me, and claiming I was a liar, and laughing loudly about the situation. This went on for about 20 minutes, they could clearly be heard on the first floor, then in the hallway, then outside the building. Thus ensued a conversation with booking.com which took place over a 45-minute period and consisted of booking.com ringing the premises (I was standing beside the reception desk) and the reception gentleman repeatedly ignoring the call until I informed them that it was being ignored. The reception gentleman then refuted what I had said, made repeated claims that it was a mouse rather than a rat, and claimed he had asked a male guest to swop rooms with me but that I had refused this offer. Booking.com refused to process a refund. I was then left at 3:20pm with a) Nowhere to stay in London that nightb) I had missed two hours of the London Tech Week conference which I had flown from Ireland to attendThe attitude of the hotel staff, the room which was not secure, the total lack of apology and attempt to demean me while I waited, the attempt to con a young female guest into taking an unsafe room in my place........ all of this added to an absolutely awful experience. Please don't try this hotel if you are female or a solo traveller, they conned me and took my money. They have a rat problem that they are not dealing with. I wish I had some photos but honestly I just packed and ran out of the room. Room 1 at the rear of ground floor. My booking with booking.com reference 4436376188 booking 0532 pin

    AVOID

    rating08 Jun 2024

This is an absolutely SHOCKING place wouldn’t even class this as a “hotel”. My boyfriend and his work colleague stayed in your “accommodation” for one night luckily isn’t wasn’t for any longer!! The room was an absolute DISGRACE as he has shown me photos and videos. My boyfriend suffers with ASTHMA and these are the reasons of what causes an ATTACK!!!!! !!!!HERE IS A HUGE LIST OF WHAT NEEDS FIXING!!!! 1. EXTREME AMOUNT OF DUST ON EVERYTHING2. SPOTLIGHTS WITH NO LIGHT COVERS (HIGHLY DANGEROUS) 3. HEADBOARDS THAT ARE PEELING OFF ON THE BEDS4. DIRTY BEDDING, SHEETS, MATTRESSES AND PILLOWS WHICH HAVE MAJOR STAINS ON THEM (I.E BLOOD&FAECES)5. LAMP SHADES WITH THICK DUST 6. BLIND THAT ISN'T EVEN ON THE WINDOW WAS LEFT ON THE SIDE COMPLETELY BROKEN 7. HALF A CURTAIN RAIL WHICH DIDN'T EVEN CLOSE THE CURTAINS 8. SHOWER DIDN'T WORK 9. RUDE AND ARROGANT STAFF 10. ONE OF THE NIGHT STAFF GOING INTO THE ROOM SPRAYING AIR FRESHENER WHEN MY BOYFRIEND AND HIS WORK COLLEAGUE CONFRONTED ALL OF THIS!10!!!!!! WHOLE reasons of how bad your “hotel” is! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES TO EVEN HAVE THIS PLACE OPEN! I will make sure this is taken further than you think.
