Don't be taken in with lovely photo of front door!

    rating05 Feb 2026

Don't be taken in by the lovely photograph of the front door. What lies inside is not worth it. My friend and I stayed one night - cost £180, in advance. On the day £116. Our room was 101 - ominous! Greeted by a huge crack in mirrored wardrobe door, curtains askew (found the curtain hooks in a drawer) and no biscuits!! to have with the tea. Then the smell. The bathroom obviously had a cracked drain. Complained to staff who said there were no other rooms available. He poured 2 bottles of bleach down plugholes, opened the window and we went out to eat, hoping all would be well upon our return. Wrong. Had to stay as it was late, pouring with rain, and we'd paid. Tasted the smell all night. Breakfast was poor, pre-packaged 'continental'. Left with complaint and hoped for recompence. Nothing for 10 days so emailed with full explanation. Met with barely concealed contempt and untruths. Two 77 year old friends up from the sticks for a show and fun. Spoilt by terrible accommodation and follow up was awful. Good points? Staff member tried to help, and staff at breakfast polite. That's about it. Very disappointed.

    Great place in central London

We were in London for an evening for a show. The Staunton is perfect for such a visit. Very clean room, friendly service and an excellent breakfast. Perfect.

A hidden, charming place to stay with «easy access» to all of London

    rating28 Apr 2025

A cozy, nice and clean place to live in a quiet, central and historie area of London. I had a single room - which was quizen small - but contained all that was needed. Clean and comfortable. Nice breakfast included. I enjoyed my short stay very much.

    Nice hotel. Would stay again

    rating17 Jan 2025

I was a bit apprehensive to book this hotel as I couldn't find a lot of reviews for them but we were pleasantly surprised. The room was modern and clean. The bathroom as well. There is a fridge in the room although no free drinks in it. We were in a basement room for around £135 a night. It didn't feel like a basement as it still has windows but they are mostly frosted for privacy. There was only slight occasional noise could be heard of the street outside which was a relief as our room faced the main street. The bed was huge, I know it was two singles zipped together but it was perfectly comfortable and spacious. The shower is really nice, no problems there. Breakfast is a selection of cold breakfast items plus a full English breakfast. All tasty. The vege sausages are inferior though. Would be nice to have some that are more like a proper sausage rather than mashed vegetable sausage.Location wise it's great for walking distance to lots of places such as theatres, Soho, and lots of shops, Oxford street etc.

Cute local hotel in a convenient location.

    rating30 Jul 2024

My family (my husband and I along with our teenage daughter) just stayed at this hotel in July of 2024. I originally booked for 2 nights but ended up extending for another night a few weeks before our trip, the management team was very responsive to my email requesting the change. The check in process went smoothly, it is an older building so you do have to carry luggage to your floor, but that wasn’t a huge issue for us. The hotel offers complimentary breakfast, there’s an option of continental or cooked to order. Both options were pretty good. It’s also conveniently located about a 10 minute walk from the tube and bus stops. We’ll definitely stay here again on a future trip to London!
