    Gave up trying

    rating15 Oct 2025

Well discovered this on Facebook. Thought great my husband would love this but they obviously don't want custom. Messaged on Facebook, rang left a message, sent texts to which the replies were not helpful. Have you got tables available Saturday, reply yes. Can I book 1pm. No reply. Sent email on their website still no reply. So unfortunately won't be visiting as customer service is lacking. Shame

    Sunday lunch

    rating12 Oct 2025

Went for lunch on Sunday. 2 courses £24.95. I had lamb, hubby had beef. Plenty of it, served in a giant Yorkie pud and roast potatoes and a separate bowl of vegetables. Delicious. Far too much food, but we struggled through (we’re not quitters 😂). We forced a dessert down (bread and butter pudding and apple crumble). To top it off, there was an Elvis singer. Happy days 🥰All in all, a lovely afternoon!A

    Stay Away! Horrid!

    rating11 Oct 2025

Disgusting! My husband arrived at the hotel at 11pm and the hotel was closed. On the door there was written that the check in is till 9pm. How are we supposed to know that? There was nothing written on the website, nor on the guest policies. Nowhere, and I kept screenshots just in case someone dares to change it. My husband ended up stranded in the middle of nowhere. We tried calling through a normal phone call and WhatsApp but nothing. Luckily I managed to get through a Premier Inn and the receptionist went out of her way to help me find an accommodation since the specific one we called was fully booked.UPDATE: After a number of telephone calls with OYO and emails, OYO decided NOT TO REIMBURSE FOR THEIR OWN MISTAKE as the owner did not want to pay us back. When we had first communicated with him the day after my husband was supposed to sleep there, he actually said that he did not have our booking. And now he doesn't want to give us our money back.STAY AWAY FROM OYO HOTELS!

    Very very disappointing

    rating09 Sept 2025

I was so excited to visit these tea rooms last Sunday but sadly we had a terrible experience here when i visited with family for Sunday lunch to celebrate Mum's 86th birthday . We all ordered roast beef dinners and when they arrived, the meal consisted of a large Yorkshire pudding containing two small pieces of beef approximately 3" x 1" in size and 2 very small roast potatoes. The vegetables arrived in 3 different sized bowls and were severely overcooked and to say the Brussels sprouts were mushy was an understatement. Gravy arrived in small milk jugs which were half filled and totally inadequate and when we asked for more only one half filled jug was provided. We were not offered any mustard or horseradish. Whilst Everyone else in my party was complaining about the portion sizes being very small, I took the view that sometimes quality over quantity is more important. However, the beef was extremely tough and overcooked and one of the slices was not even edible. My parents were unable to eat any of the meat on their plate at all and the whole experience was a complete waste of money. Two of our party visited the toilets and reported that they were absolutely disgusting and this caused us enormous concern for the hygiene levels for the establishment as a result of which we did not order any desert.I did raise my concern about the standard of the food and the toilets with the manager and he advised that usually the owner oversees the cooking and this was not their usual standard. Nevertheless, this is just not good enough. We were all offered a reduction in the total bill but this does not make up for the fact that my mother's birthday celebration was completely ruined. On a plus the singer that was performing had a fantastic voice although far too loud for those trying to enjoy their lunch. Peter Bailey, Owner at The Bell Hotel, responded to this review I am so sorry to read this review, like any owner of a business I would have liked to have spoken in person and not in this manner. We are a new buisness and this is is not the standard I train my staff.I have taken the following action, the chef no longer works for me, I have discussed more checks of the toilets.I have also spoken to the manager that was on shift as I was away.My kitchen and restaurant has very high standards of hygiene, if you would like to get in touch with me , I will provide a full refund. I would also me happy to provide a free afternoon tea package to your mum and guest for her birthday.Kind regards Peter
