    Great facilities and lovely staff are what stands out about this hotel. The VIP perks were well worth upgrading to an executive room and the location was perfect for anyone wanting to shop, with Oxford Street just around the corner. Romi in the VIP lounge was particularly warm and welcoming. Thank you, too, to Pravalika for looking after us during our time there.     Disappointing Experience Due to Poor Customer Service

    I booked an Executive Twin Room at the Cumberland Hotel, but unfortunately the room had a very poor view. When I asked if there was a room with a better view, the receptionist, Alessandra Max Pezali, told me that no alternative rooms were available unless I upgraded to a Park View room.I agreed to the upgrade, but I specifically asked her to make sure the room could be configured as a twin room. She assured me that the bed could be split if needed and that there would be no problem. Based on that assurance, I paid the additional £30 per night.However, when we arrived at the upgraded room, we found it had a king bed. We went back downstairs, but Alessandra was on her break. We then spoke with housekeeping, who informed us that the bed could not be split into twins.When I returned to reception to resolve the issue, Alessandra handled the situation very poorly. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, she claimed in front of her manager that she had clearly told me the upgrade was to a King Park View room and implied that the misunderstanding was my fault. This was simply not true.Fortunately, the manager stepped in and resolved the issue by providing a nearby Park View room that could be configured as a twin.While I appreciate the manager’s efforts to correct the situation, I was very disappointed by the receptionist’s lack of professionalism. Rather than taking responsibility and helping to fix the mistake, she seemed more concerned with protecting herself and shifting the blame onto the customer. This left a very negative impression and detracted from what could have been an enjoyable stay.

    Decent hotel but woeful breakfast

    Modern, comfortable hotel in a good location near Marble Arch. It was let down by a poor experience at breakfast, where the coffee out of the machine tased awful and the orange juice was like watered-down squash. Freshly made omelettes were a nice addition though.
