    Pleasant stay but can be improved

    Overall, it was a pleasant stay on a budget.There are few concerns I would like to raise here.Quiet room, clean bed and window blind to mute light and noise. It was good. But the shower door inside bathroom was broken and made shower use not possible. I had to go to first floor to use shower.It appears their reservation system is not working well. Despite paying the full amount via their publove website while booking, I was asked to pay when I arrived there. Even after showing the email receipt which clearly mentioned balance due is NIL, the person in charge kept insisting that he can't see the payment in the system and sneakily setup debit in my card. I came to know only when I checked out. My card was debited for second time. When I asked him why he charged again, he asked me to come in the afternoon to speak the manager. It was not a friendly experience, one would hope. Thankfully, the person, who was working in the afternoon, understood my inconvenience and apologised for my bad experience with his colleague earlier. He reverted back the amount I was wrongly debited instantly.

    On arrival I was told that , the room given will be changed in the next day , reason being?….. I was not told. Since I booked for 5 nights , on the second night I went to ask about the change of room I was told about but the bar tender didn’t know anything about that. Bed Linen( sheets) only given one and it was never changed and pillow cases ( 5 nights). Hand wash basin in shower room extremely dirty and the shower floors full of hair, very unhygienic shower rooms that can cause your clients to acquire skin fungal infections. Shower rooms need to be at least cleaned daily during the day. No toilet paper in the toilets….maybe it’s the price you pay that determines the use of toilet paper? that should have been explained on booking that you need to bring your own toilet paper.

    Comfortable mattress, well spaced in dorm, quiet street, plenty of showers and loos, great pub downstairs for some good conversation, very reasonable prices, right by Euston and its going to be my base for WC1 study from now on. Thanks!

    A welcoming place to sleep - and drink

    A great pub in a very convenient location. Clean and comfortable as far as hostels go, and not too much noise. It could do with a few more toilets and shower cubicles, but that's not a problem for those who rise and retire at odd times. Compared with other hostels, it tops the league for the helpfulness of its staff.
