Location

    Drilling started at 8am right next to my room, making sleep or work impossible. This is a construction site as well as hotel, something that was not made clear before or after the booking and should be - especially when charging premium rates. It's dishonest not to openly say otherwise.

    Overall a great stay - perhaps not quite as expected, with the hotel under renovations at the moment the website doesn't quite match what is on offer at present. The Dunbar is currently the only area for sitting / lounging and probably isn't actually big enough to accommodate both hotel guests and club members. Diya, working in the Dunbar deserves a shout out - she went above and beyond during our stay. Genuinely a pleasure to meet her. The cooked breakfast is really great - however if your party is asked to eat breakfast elsewhere on your second morning politely decline - as this takes the cooked breakfast option from you.     We had a lovely stay this weekend. Firstly when we arrived the rooms weren’t really up to our standard. We asked the receptionist and she was fantastic and moved us into a newly refurbished room, which was fantastic! Brilliant room, bathroom and rituals. The hotel was busy during the day (we stayed Friday to Sunday) as there’s also lots of people there for the gym/ tennis courts. Breakfast was also busy but we had a lovely lady who served us called Diya. She was brilliant! The location of the hotel was brilliant, very close to Kingston and on the river front. Clean hotel. No noise at night (9am on Saturday morning then all day there was some drilling) but we were warned the hotel was under renovation. Pool was good.     I went here with a friend and was aware of the refurbishment going on. Whilst there was no loud noises or building works going on it is how they are dealing with guests that is the issue. Despite booking “The Lensbury” and expecting to stay in the building as portrayed by their website, we were given rooms in the Ascot Building which seems to be their conference rooms. They were tired, basic although clean(ish) the communal areas were pretty poor. Views overlooking the car park - we felt like we were staying in a Premier Inn to be honest. No shade on PI’s but you get what you pay for and we were expecting a more luxury experience. Breakfast had to end at 9.45 - even on a Sunday as it is in their members bar. You could overhear members being unhappy at hotel guests and was a pretty uncomfortable experience. We were offered a different breakfast room for the Sunday but we would not be able to be served their cooked breakfast with this option. The cooked breakfast was not to be missed - this was very good. Shame they don’t have teapots for tea so you could brew your preferred strength. We have sent a response to the hotel outlining all these details on 18th May but 3 weeks later still no response. All together a very disappointing stay.
