A little slice of tradition right in the middle of it all

Had a great two-night stay at the Rookery whilst on a business trip to London. The location can't be beat - less than five minutes from Farringdon Station (on the Elizabeth Line) and about 10 minutes from the City. The experience is very traditional - boarding on quirky - but that's exactly why you should stay here not some cookie cutter new build. The only drawback was the bath in my room - again very traditional but made it very difficult (read damn near impossible) to shower which is nice if your on a leisure trip but a little inefficient when you have a business meeting at 8am and have to take a bath first thing.

We visited The Rookery for a celebratory weekend in December. It was absolutely magical. They upgraded our room for us and everything was perfect, with a huge room, king size bed and enormous windows looking out over Smithfield Market. It is a beautiful, historic building - preserved but updated to offer every comfort. We loved the little touches like mince pies by the honesty bar and the cosy fires and Christmas trees in the relaxed reception rooms. This whole part of London is rich in Victorian history and you really feel like you're swanning about in a Richard Curtis film! The Rookery is the perfect place to stay for a romantic break and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of wintry London.

My husband Louis and l spent a few nights at The Rookery in the last week of September; this is an excellent hotel that is everything it promises. A well kept Georgian style, aged and well maintained facility, with its history well told.Alexandra and all staff were welcoming and helpful.If you have breakfast, expect the company of the "house cat" ....We recommend that you try it.
