Pleasant stay at The Travelodge Tower Bridge

The Hotel is very convenient for Tower Bridge and Tower Hill tube. Easy access to Victoria, the West End and South Kensington Museums via the District/Circle lines. It is clean and comfortable, no aircon but fan in room. Pleasant reception staff and a good Breakfast. We had to book a Super Room as the standard rooms had sold out, but I couldn’t see much difference other than a coffee machine and a rain shower. We were allowed to leave our cases the next day while we were sightseeing which was appreciated.

    Rude Receptionist Spoilt Trip

    rating08 Jun 2026

I booked a double room and, the following day, went to reception to ask if it was possible to move rooms and told the receptionist the room was depressing. The room felt very dark as the long light behind the bed was not working and the window was frosted, meaning there was very little natural daylight. It also overlooked a brick wall.I asked if I could move to a room on the roadside so that I had some daylight and a different outlook. The receptionist told me there were no double rooms on the roadside and that all double rooms were the same with blocked-out windows. If that is the case, I think it is important that customers are made aware when booking that the double rooms have frosted windows and limited natural light, as I certainly wasn't.I then asked whether any other rooms were available. She said there were suites available on the fourth floor, but they cost more. When I asked how much it would cost to upgrade, she said she didn't know and pointed to the computer, saying she would have to send a message but that it would take ages to get a response. She then walked away from the desk.I started to walk away, at which point she then asked if I was okay and I said no, because she hadn't helped resolve the issue and wasn't willing to find out the cost of moving to another room.Another receptionist then appeared from the back room and said, "We have Room 10 available on the roadside, would you like to see it?" I said yes. I viewed the room, said it was fine, and we moved. At that point, the issue was resolved. What disappointed me most was being told there were no double rooms on the roadside when I was subsequently moved into one. Later, walking along the corridor after I had moved rooms, I could see there were several other double rooms on that side as well. The first receptionist didn't know the prices, wasn't willing to find out, and provided information that turned out to be untrue. As a result, I found her unhelpful, rude and dishonest.
