    Rooms constantly too cold

    rating04 Mar 2026

The rooms are always so cold. The air con is constantly set to cool at 18 degrees. Even if I turn up it, by the time I get back on an evening it’s reverted to 18 degrees cool and it hard to then get cosy in bed DM City, Guest Services / Front Office at The Z Hotel City, responded to this review Dear itskb123,Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the room temperature was not comfortable during your stay. Our air-conditioning system is set with a default setting, which can sometimes return to its preset temperature. For guests who prefer a warmer room, our team is always happy to assist in adjusting the settings or providing additional bedding or portable heater to make the room more comfortable. Scam

    rating21 Feb 2026

On arriving an hour and a half early at 12.30 we already knew we could not go to our room as check in was 3 pm so asked if we could leave our small night bag somewhere as we had a show to go to at 2pm. We were told our room was ready which we thought great but we’re Told we could have it at extra cost of £20 this also was happening to the family next to us. We booked this hotel as thought a fair price for London hotel but obviously they have it off to a patter especially for the early arrival’s if the room was ready why couldn’t we go in. The family room was a joke two grandchildren 11 & 12 was a box room with shower and toilet in same room that the children thought was a giggle but very embarrassing for us as grandparents as not very private at all , Have to say Premier inn was much better DM C, at The Z Hotel City, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry that your stay did not fully meet your expectations. We completely understand that arriving before the standard check-in time can be inconvenient. Our check-in time is 3:00 pm, which allows our housekeeping team to prepare each room to the highest standard for our guests. Early check-in is available as an optional service, subject to availability, for those who wish to access their room before 3:00 pm. This service carries an additional charge and is entirely optional. Guests who prefer not to use this option are always welcome to store their luggage free of charge until the standard check-in time.Regarding the room layout, we regret that it did not meet your expectations. The layout and features of our Family Rooms are accurately described and shown in the photographs on our website, so guests can make an informed choice when booking.Your feedback is very important to us, and we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly to discuss your experience further. Please feel free to contact the hotel at your convenience, and we will ensure your concerns are addressed. We truly appreciate your comments and hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a more positive experience in the future.Kind Regards,Agustin VirginioDuty Manager

    Tiny room but great location

    rating06 Feb 2026

First of all I paid £66 a night to stay here in a single room without a window. For the amazing location of the hotel that’s a bargain. The room however is bordering on claustrophobic. Seriously. It’s the smallest room I’ve ever stayed in in my life and I’m extremely well traveled. There is literally nowhere to walk around in the room as it’s so tiny.. But the worst part is the toilet situation. The bathroom has a sliding glass door that’s frosted however it’s easily see through. And there are 2 large gaps down each side of the door when it’s closed. People can see fully see you in the bathroom and on the toilet as the toilet is directly in front of the frosted glass door. You’d think that is the worst part but it gets even worse. After using the toilet, you slide open the glass door and if there are any odours in the bathroom they also now in the tiny room. I’ve had bathrooms in some hotels that are bigger than the whole room in this hotel. The room was set up as bunk beds with 2 double beds instead of 2 singles. It sounds large but it wasn’t, it was very small. How the hotel thinks they can get 4 people in that room is beyond me. 2 people is a push but even that would be challenging as the room was so small. Honestly it’s too small for anymore than 1 person. I stayed as a single person and so my privacy didn’t matter as I was on my own however I’d hate to stay in that room with anyone else to be honest. They willknow your business (bathroom related) and you’ll end up knowing theirs also. It’s not ideal at all. It’s a very bad layout with a see through sliding glass door that literally doesn’t close properly (huge gaps see photo) and there’s nothing you can do about it. It’s not faulty. It’s just a very bad design. Simply because of these reasons I’ve given the hotel 3 out of 5.Everything else apart from the room and bathroom situation was excellent. Plenty of tea and coffee provided in the room, it was very clean and not having a window wasn’t an issue. The location is brilliant. I won’t be staying there again unless I’m travelling on my own and can get the £66 a night deal again. DM City, Guest Services / Front Office at The Z Hotel City, responded to this review Dear Philip001,Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review and for highlighting the positives of your stay, particularly our location, cleanliness, and the value you felt you received for the price. We appreciate your honest feedback regarding the room size and bathroom layout. Our rooms are designed to be compact and are best suited for travellers looking for an affordable option in a central location. That said, we fully understand that the layout — especially the bathroom’s sliding glass door — may not suit everyone’s comfort or privacy expectations, and we’re sorry that this impacted your experience.Your comments about the bathroom design and ventilation have been noted and will be shared with our management team as we continually review guest feedback to see where improvements can be made. We always encourage guests to contact our reception team during their stay if something isn’t meeting expectations, as we may be able to offer alternative room options depending on availability. We’re glad to hear that, aside from the room layout, you enjoyed the overall stay and found the amenities and location to be excellent. Thank you again for your balanced and constructive review, and we appreciate you choosing to stay with us.Kind regardsKatalin CzakoNight Manager

    Amazing

Stayed here for two nights with my best friend, and it was just perfect. Ideal location, spotlessly clean and complimentary wine and cheese on the Saturday night! The rooms are small but I knew this when booking, again the bathroom was frosted glass so there isn’t always much left to the imagination, again I knew this when booking. 13 minute walk from Holborn tube station and everything else seemed in walking distance too! Nice and close to the theatres and Covent Garden! I would stay here every time I’m in London! DM City, Guest Services / Front Office at The Z Hotel City, responded to this review Dear Bethany,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
