    Extortionate prices for the food and bar!

    Handy for the airport, not for the wallet, extortionate bar and food prices ruined the stay. Geoff Willis, Owner at Holiday Inn Express Manchester Airport, responded to this review It’s disappointing to hear the bar and food pricing left such a strong impression, especially when the stay itself should feel simple and convenient before heading to the airport. Pricing around airports can be a little higher, but it shouldn’t take away from what should be a smooth stay.I’d be keen to understand what specifically made it feel that it spoiled things, as many guests choose to head out locally or order in if they prefer alternative options. There’s usually a way to keep the overall experience feeling good value for a short stay.That said, your feedback matters and will be reviewed.     Location: Not close to the airport or the train station that we had searched for. Had to get taxis costing £15 each way.. Not possible to walk as there were no pedestrian route.Hotel: room 114 was poor decorative order. Bed side lamp shade was a mess as though someone had fallen into it and needed replacing, stains on carpet and generally felt grubby. Shower room needed an update.Staff: were all lovely and very friendly and can’t fault them at all.Breakfast: was good with decent selection of hot and cold food. Overall I wouldn’t stay here again and the airport reference in the title shouldn’t have been included as it is not located close to it so really put us out as this is what we needed. Our position, at 1.9 miles from the terminals, is clearly shown across booking sites, maps and our own website, and many guests choose us knowing it’s a short taxi or bus ride rather than being on the terminal grounds. That said, I completely understand how disappointing it feels when the location doesn’t work for your specific plans.Your comments about room 114 are taken seriously.     Fantastic stay. Had to get used to having just a fan for AC which was hilarious and a bit of a culture shock coming from the US to the UK. Would stay again. Hotel is right next to the airport and a 5 min drive by shuttle to hotel. I would highly recommend using the shuttle. It’s a big difference from paying £6 for it compared to £16 by traditional taxi.     Convenient for airport

    We stayed here when we had an early flight from Manchester airport. It's about a 10 minute taxi from the airport and there is a free shuttle bus as well. We told the concierge we were getting married abroad and they gave us two free drinks which was a nice touch. The rooms were decent size and beds were comfy would stay here again.
