Clean & functional hotel in the centre of Manchester

    rating25 Mar 2026

Nothing fancy, but clean and handy for both the city centre and the university. 15 min walk from Piccadilly Station or Manchester University. Superior room (5, grounf floor at the back) was clean, quiet, and had everything needed - comfortable bed, good shower and kettle! Check in a bit vague but fairly painless, breakfast OK with reasonable choice (and at least the bacon was crispy 😅). Would use again when next up North. Frederic Dumont, General Manager at ibis Manchester Centre, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for your kind review! We’re glad to hear you found your superior room clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, and that our location was convenient for both the city centre and Manchester University. We appreciate your feedback about check-in and breakfast—it helps us continue to make improvements while keeping things simple and pleasant for our guests. And yes, we’re happy the bacon met the crispy standard! 😄We look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip up North.Warm regards,Tatiana Mayan Team Leader

Handy little hotel at bargain price

    rating12 Mar 2026

Handy little hotel for bargain price. We booked this for a quick one night stay as we were at a gig at the Manchester Apollo. Have stayed in Ibis hotels before and knew to expect basic - but this was alright actually. Very well located for the city and where we needed to be.Welcome at check-in was superb and friendly. Quick too.Bed pretty comfortable. Yes the rooms are small and the bathroom more like something you get on an overnight boat to Holland, but perfectly functional for a quick stay.Breakfast was a buffet affair on the more basic side. Sadly only scrambled eggs, but all the food hot and well replenished. Juices and coffees were poor. The live yoghurt pots were a nice surprise. On the downside was the 'bar'. We went to the bar after our show and aside from the limited places to sit and relax (all high stools) we sat at the bar. Not sure what is wrong with their stock ordering. Half the beers were off on the taps, and by the time we left, down to one. Ordered two large glasses of red wine (she had no idea if they had any more in the back - thankfully they did). Had run out of glasses so we were in mis-matched affairs (no biggie I guess, but how do you not have glasses?). Bit peckish - ordered some fries (bargin price £1.95) from the 24 hour food section. Arrived, and offered sauces etc. They had run out of vinegar... They seem to run out of a lot of things! All quite amusing though, and we slept well for a very cheap price. No huge complaint. Just don't expect the Radisson.. Frederic Dumont, General Manager at ibis Manchester Centre, responded to this review Dear Paul,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re delighted to hear that you found our hotel well-located, comfortable, and a good value for your stay near the Manchester Apollo. It’s also wonderful to know our team made a great first impression at check-in.We do apologize for the mismatched glasses and any inconvenience at the bar. As a hotel with a small bar, our glasses are often taken to guest rooms and returned the next day, so occasionally we may run short during busy periods. We appreciate your understanding and good humor about this!Your feedback on breakfast and our facilities is also noted, and we’ll continue to work on keeping everything well-stocked and enjoyable for our guests. We’re glad you had a comfortable night’s sleep and hope to welcome you back to Manchester soon!Warm regards,Tatiana Mayan Team Leader

Incredibly friendly hotel in a great location

    rating31 Dec 2025

Pros- Staff were absolutely superb - probably the friendliest hotel staff I’ve ever encountered. Incredibly welcoming, pleasant, and nothing was too much trouble. - Location is great. A short walk from Piccadilly station and close to all the bars and restaurants on Oxford Road. - Comfortable rooms - shower worked well, bed was comfortable, everything worked. - They offer late checkout - handy after a late night. - Great positioning of the hotel - despite being on the ground floor, there was virtually no residual noise and more or less absolute privacy as I wasn’t overlooked. - Rooms had climate control so temperature wasn’t a problem. Cons- I found the rooms (certainly the one I had) rather compact. I also kindly got an upgrade to one of their newly refurbed rooms. Whilst they look good and have very nice bathrooms, the layout means you get an incredibly small desk and overall it was a little snug.Came up to Manchester for a gig at the deaf institute and have absolutely no regrets about my choice of hotel. Not only was it a 5 minute walk from the venue, the hotel was spot on in all other aspects. Thankfully I had my own room, but sharing would have been a challenge due to the limited space. Overall, if you don’t mind a more compact room (you might not have this - some are bigger according to the floor plan) and you want a comfortable, clean hotel near Oxford Road, then I thoroughly recommend this hotel. Frederic Dumont, General Manager at ibis Manchester Centre, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review of your stay with us. We’re delighted to hear that you found our team welcoming and friendly—it truly means a lot to us to know our staff made such a positive impression. We’re also glad you enjoyed our convenient location, comfortable rooms, and the quiet, private atmosphere, as well as the late checkout option and climate control features. Your comments about the room size and layout are duly noted, and we appreciate your constructive feedback. We’re always looking for ways to improve guest comfort, and your observations help us with that. It’s fantastic to hear that your trip to Manchester for the gig at the Deaf Institute went so smoothly and that our hotel added to your overall experience. We hope to welcome you back soon—perhaps for a longer stay or to try one of our larger rooms.Thank you once again for recommending us!Warm regards,Tatiana Mayan Team Leader
