Location

Set in its own gardens with views of the Pennine Hills, this hotel is conveniently located just 2 min from junction 20 of the M62. It lies between Liverpool and Leeds and is only 8 miles from the city centre of Manchester.

Facility

The hotel was built in 1901. 3 single rooms and 77 double rooms are located on 3 storeys and can be reached by lift. The reception desk is open round the clock. A baggage storage service and a safe are available. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. The hotel offers a number of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities. A number of shops, including a souvenir shop, are great for shopping or just browsing. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Additional facilities include a newspaper stand. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park. Other services include medical assistance, room service (for a fee), an alarm call service, a laundry service, a hairdresser and a coin-operated laundry. A business centre with fax machine and photocopier is available.

Rooms

Air conditioning and central heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. All rooms are carpeted and include a king-size bed and a sofa bed. Extra beds can be requested. A desk is provided. Guests will also find a tea/coffee station included among the standard features. There is also an ironing set and a trouser press. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio, an alarm clock and WiFi (no extra charge) provide all the essentials for a comfortable holiday. Slippers are included. Bathrooms include a hairdryer and are equipped with a shower and a bathtub. Guests can also book wheelchair-friendly rooms with wheelchair-accessible bathrooms. The hotel has family rooms and 80 non-smoking rooms.

Sport

While the adults swim a few laps in the indoor pool, children can splash around in the kids' pools. Comfortable sun loungers are available on the terrace. The hot tub in the pool area promises pure relaxation. For those who wish to stay active while on holiday, the hotel offers golf. Sport and leisure facilities at the hotel include a gym and aerobics. There is a wellness area with a spa, a sauna, a steam bath, a hammam, a beauty salon, hydrotherapy treatments and a solarium. Subject to charge: massage treatments.

Meals

The dining area includes a restaurant (with high chairs) and a bar. Bed and breakfast can be booked. A generous breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. At lunch, guests can choose between a buffet, à la carte and a set menu. Dinner options include à la carte and a set menu. Diet meals and children's meals can be prepared on request. The hotel also offers special catering options.

    I'm just rating the themed party night I attended recently: overall it was a fun night but I think it could do with a few improvements. Firstly, I found it to be overpriced for what you got-£28 for a smallish main course and music. I think that should include a starter or dessert with that price as the main itself was underwhelming (I had the cod but others from my party that had meat were disappointed and said it was fatty/tough). Yes the DJ played brilliant music and he was good with getting the crowd going and involving people which was a nice touch. The dance floor was tiny! I think this should be made bigger as there's hardly any room to dance, which is what I go to these nights for! We ended up just dancing near our tables which isn't ideal. I also wouldn't be impressed as a staying night guest with noisy music from party nights and weddings but I can't truly comment on the hotel itself as I have not stayed there for years. I personally prefer the party nights at the nearby village hotel or the royal Toby.     We honestly could not have asked for a more perfect wedding venue. Every single member of staff was amazing from start to finish — so caring, lovely and accommodating, with nothing ever being too much trouble.The planning process was seamless, the timings throughout the day were flawless, and every finer detail was carefully thought through.     We had our twilight wedding at the Mercure Norton Grange hotel, a short sweet ceremony and danced the night away, just amazing! Myself and my girls stayed at the hotel the night before, we were made to feel very welcome from when we arrived.The bridal suite is lovely and spacious, there was lots of room for 7 girls to get ready together in.The food was really good, both during our wedding day and the restaurant for evening meal and breakfast.We used the pool and thermal suite, all excellent.Thank you to everyone at the Mercure Norton Grange hotel who helped to make our day perfect for us, the staff were all very friendly, the DJ was fab and kept everyone on the dance floor all night!     We had our wedding at Norton Grange last weekend and honestly it was perfect from start to finish. Charlotte, our wedding planner, was amazing the whole way through and made everything feel so easy and stress free. Nothing was too much trouble and she really went above and beyond to make sure our day was special.The whole team at Norton Grange were brilliant. Every member of staff was friendly, helpful and made us feel really looked after all day.     My Husband and I had our wedding at this venue 28th March 2026 and we can honestly say it was the best of our lives. Charlotte Whittaker, our wedding coordinator, was absolutely fantastic from the moment we booked the wedding until the day of the wedding, thank you so much.
