    A comfortable, friendly place to stay at a good price

    Plenty of free parking and efficient check in. However, I was told, on arrival that the kitchen was to receive a deep clean so breakfast food would be limited to scrambled eggs on toast. However, my single room was upgraded to a double. On the second morning, I enjoyed a large, fresh kipper as a part of my breakfast. Shame that the only toast, both days, was thin white sliced.My room was spacious, very clean, quiet and comfortable. It was nice to be able to turn down the heating to aid refreshing sleep. There was sufficient tea, drinking chocolate and biscuits, replenished each day. The bathroom was clean, with plenty of hot water and large towels.All the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful.It was a shame that the real ale tap in the dining area was wrapped in clingfilm.I felt that the price I paid was good value.

    The hotel on arrival looked ok, checking in was ok but no help offered to help find our lodge or carry luggage, it was dark and we struggled.Once inside rooms were ok but not like the photos, furniture dated and broken. Not as clean as I would expect and rooms were extremely hot as heating needed upgrade. Restaurant service was appalling, often waiting in excess of fifteen minutes to be seen as weed were invisible and then waited to be served.Food was often burnt and menu choices limited with basic items not being available. Some staff really friendly, others not so.Needs an upgrade urgently and housekeeping needs sone work, will not be returning.

    Worst meal out I’ve ever had ,overbooked,waited ages for our table ,they ran out of food ,waited for more turkey ,queues were horrendous ,people were leaving ,what vegetables were there were undercooked &cold .I complained by email ,&telephoned ,I haven’t heard anything back from them .Worst Christmas Day ever

    It was a very quiet dining room and we 4 had arrived early for a birthday lunch. Two of us had exactly the same food.Soup and toasted sandwich’s. Two others had different food. Soup wasn’t particularly exciting and cheese toast was ok. We paid separately and when I queried about The Winter Offers two mains for £14.95 I was told all mains were £9.95. My colleague also queried when she paid her bill. I have emailed three times. I have been told someone was looking into this but now it’s 9 days later and no one has responded. Why advertise Winter Offers but not apply them?

    Terrible Christmas day meal, too many complaints to put in the review ran out of space

    Worst christmas dinner every, too many people, queuing for food about 30 people deep and snaking round other diners. People in their 80's standing for around 30/40 mins for food which was in chunks, cold and dripping in oil. Staff had no idea and we was forgotten about many times. Staff where heard saying they didn't want to be there.
