Great Golf Course but Dirty Facilities

    rating14 Jun 2026

I played Golf at Sprowston Golf club on a very hot day at the end of May. The Golf Course was in a very good condition for the hot temperatures and I found it a lovely challenging course and very enjoyable. Much better than Royal Norwich to be honest which I also played earlier this year. The disappointing part was the state of the changing rooms and the overall appearance and tidiness of the clubhouse. The changing rooms and showers/sinks/ toilets area was very dirty and in need of a good cleaning. The outside area of the clubhouse had rubbish and detritus all over it straws , food wrappers and also needed a good sweep and clean up. Obviously the Hotel is the main priority but some time and effort needs to be put into the Golf Club maintenance, basic cleanliness should not be required it should be done routinely.

    Flying visit.

A return trip as visiting UEA so only one night. Friendly customer service on arrival. 10am if I recall to vacate room which feels slightly early. 11am would be better. Room comfortable and booked a twin bed room.

Wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all

    rating26 May 2026

My Wife and I booked this “4 star” hotel as we were up in Norwich to celebrate my wife’s grandmother’s 100th birthday. We had traveled all the way from Cardiff. On arrival, reception wasn’t very helpful and no offer to help with our luggage to the third floor was offered.I asked reception what time dinner was served until, response was, The restaurant was fully booked so they couldn’t accommodate us. Fine we said, can we eat in the bar, yes but you can’t order until 8pm!Moving on, we had pre paid for breakfast for the 2 mornings we were staying, only to be told that there was no available tables for breakfast until 10am, which was too late as we had to be elsewhere. No information was given to us about booking tables for a pre paid breakfast.I have worked in the hospitality industry for 25 years and have never experienced service like this.Staff were unhelpful and rude and quite clearly had no concept of customer care.I have never checked out of a hotel early, but on this occasion we did.I met with the general manager on the Sunday morning to explain our frustrations and was given a full refund on the night we didn’t stay and the 2 breakfasts that we didn’t get.Staff were unhelpful as I said, and quite frankly didn’t care. Such a shame as it’s a beautiful hotel in a lovely location, but is badly run and managed.I will not be returning to this hotel or recommend it to anyone Very disappointing as it tarnished what was supposed to be a happy bank holiday weekend.

    Awful dirty room

    rating25 May 2026

My room (508) was up in the gods up many flight s of stairs and long narrow corridors. When I finally found it I had to return along the trail back to reception in order to ask them to clean the hairs and marks from the bedding. Finally it was somewhere near to ‘just about acceptable ‘ so I settled down in the 31oC room ( the fan was pointless as it was old and hardly blew out any air) only to be disturbed by what I assumed to be pigeons somewhere in the roof above my room. All this for £112 per night with no breakfast (although that might have been a blessing in disguise). My colleague had worse issues with his room on the floor below and went to complain. He was followed by the American couple who had just booked in to the room opposite. The old part of this ‘manor’ is vastly over priced and to a certain degree not fit for purpose. If I had been staying on personal basis I would have checked out. Avoid.

Needs some TLC and better maintenance of facilities

    rating16 May 2026

Spent 2 nights here for our wedding anniversary. Reception was very welcoming and looked beautiful as did the surroundings. We had upgraded to a family double room so expected something special. Room was OK, nice Bathroom, lots of storage, a fridge and plenty of tea and coffee but we were a little disturbed by the chair in the corner that had some very suspicious stains on it, so we avoided it at all costs. There were 3 lamps but only 1 worked and 1 of the others randomly switched itself on at some point during the evening! Breakfast was very nice and plenty of choice but both mornings the coffee machine ran out of milk so a cappuccino was a black coffee. The leisure club was nice enough but the jacuzzi wasn't working. There was a Starbucks coffee machine, my husband went to get us coffees to find the machine not working as it needed cleaning. He told the staff straight away and they said they would clean it which they did about half an hour later. Husband went back to the machine and although nobody had used it, there was no milk in it. He told the staff and they said they would replenish it. We waited an hour and still it wasn't done, which was poor service and very frustrating. The hotel building and grounds are beautiful but carpets need replacing and a fresh lick of paint would help. Overall it was a nice hotel but not the best value for money.
