  Firstly good points, great location, free 24 hours parking, very good breakfast choices, friendly reception. We stayed for 1 night before our ferry to the Isle of Wight as a one off treat as it was my birthday the next day. The room was tired, 1 chair, no table, but clean, air conditioning not working but couldn't have the window open as opposite a bar that played music and people outside talking until about 2 am, which we could hear even with the window shut. Surprised to see a shower curtain in the bathroom it could do with being replaced. I booked a room that had a view, which was half the top of the Spinnaker Tower! It was Good Friday so the room was probably more expensive then usual. Poor value for money.

  Great staff very friendly especially Charlee, Beth and Lynsay. Whole stay has been wonderful. Will definitely return again.

  Great stay in this hotel. Location fantastic, everything in walking distance- less than 5 min walk to the train and bus station. Safe hotel with a fantastic breakfast, couldn’t ask for a better choice.Through no fault of the hotel there was noise coming from the bar opposite. Not a problem for me as I had noise cancelling earbuds but worth noting.I would stay here again.

  The Holiday Inn Express at Gunwharf Quays is extremely easy to get to with excellent parking nearby. As far as location is concerned, this hotel is excellently located for shops and restaurants and very good if you want to visit the Historic Dock Yards, Spinnaker Tower, or have just arrived, or about to leave, on one of the many ferries to the Isle of White and to the continent.Hot drinks machine available 24 hours along with fresh fruit. As the aircon was not working there was free chilled water and ice creams available. Hotel gives 24 hours free parking, then £2 a day, in the Gunwharf Quays carpark which is just a short walk away.Breakfast disappointing. Glasses dirty. Sausages overcooked. Scrambled Eggs smelt strange (so did not have any) and croissants not fresh. Hot water at breakfast not hot enough to make a decent cup of tea, coffee was unpleasant.   One of the best budget hotels of hundreds tried.

  Best free facilities I’ve seen so far of any budget hotel. Very clean and tidy with pleasant staff within the centre of Portsmouth. Free WiFi, in-bar coffee, and a fresh and substantial free breakfast. Highly recommended.
