  Absolute nightmare for the price charged - STAY AWAY

  My wife and I booked a two night stay at the Fairmont St. Andrews directly on the Fairmont website - Check in Aug 31, 2026 and check out on Sept 2, 2026.We arrived at approximately 18:30 on August 31. No one greeted us to assist with our 4 pieces of luggage or park the car. After we moved the bags into the hotel I proceeded to check in. Please note, the receptionist was very knowledgeable and helpful. A porter finally showed up and asked my wife if we would like help with our bags. My answer would have been hell no, we already did all the work, but wife said no thanks. After going to the room we turned on the a/c and then left to have something to eat and drink at the hotel bar. We sat there for 15 minutes, no one came to help us and the place was not busy. At the same time, a waitress kept her back to us and had a lengthy conversation with other patrons at the table next to ours, not once acknowledging our presence. I had to go up to the bar to order and get drinks myself. The food came, and the order was wrong. Again, I had to go up to the bar for a water refill and salt. Very poor experience. Went back to the room and it was still warm. The "a/c" was blowing out warm air. Checked out the bathroom and the shower was moldy and dirty. I have never seen so much mold and grime around a shower stall. Disgusting. I walked back to the front desk to find out about the a/c and let them know about the filthy bathroom. Alex at the front desk only said he would override the a/c from the front desk. Never have I heard of an individual room A/C being reset from the front desk. Obviously the room never cooled. We canceled the second night and checked out the next morning only to find an added charge for drinks we never ordered totaling over 70 pounds. I highly recommend staying away from this hotel and stay at the Old Course Hotel - what a delight!Here it is Sept 19, 2026 and after 3 emails to customer service, I finally received my stay points. I would have thought booking through the Fairmont website this would have been automatic. Thanks for your help Louisette at customer service.

  Booked for afternoon tea,This was absolutely fantastic, one of the best we’ve had, the staff were so friendly and welcoming, the pianist was playing some lovely music while having tea, the quality of food was outstanding and better than expected, the coffee and teas we’re also excellent quality, as was the beautiful crockery.Just fantastic well done team Lesley Falconer, Guest Services / Front Office at Fairmont St Andrews, responded to this review Thank you for your wonderful feedback regarding your afternoon tea experience.   A Birthday to Remember

  Was my 85th birthday. The location is superb. Access to St Andrews is via the hotels mini bus, to and from. On one day I walked the coastal path , lovely but a degree of energy and flexibility is required. The atmosphere is quiet and laid back and the staff are superb. Got the hotel mini bus on return. The hotel overall and the room was lovely, clean and of more than adequate size. You get what you pay for. The grounds are superb and you do not have to be a golfer to appreciate the extensive grounds. The silence was deafening. Self service breakfast buffet was enormous or you could be served as required. In the evening we ate a seafood stack in the clubhouse overlooking the sea, wonderful, not cheap but worthy of the occasion and of superb quality and quantity. In the evening we dined in the hotel Italian restuarant which was lovely. There is also a gym, spa and pool which we did not utilise but looked very inviting. From start to finish, the Fairmont St Andrews was absolutely wonderful, Ayesha and whole team went above and beyond to make our day so special.The venue was stunning, the food was amazing and every little detail was taken care of perfectly.   We had the most wonderful Strathberry Afternoon Tea at the Fairmont St.Andrews—a truly luxurious treat in a truly beautiful location. From the moment we arrived, we were looked after exceptionally well by Joseph and Meghana. Both were absolutely delightful, attentive and wonderfully knowledgeable about every element of the experience, making the afternoon feel even more special.We also must mention the lovely atmosphere made possible by the lovely pianist, beautiful. The volume level of noise was just enough to keep our conversation private.We began by choosing from an impressive selection of teas before enjoying a delicious savoury course of delicate sandwiches and pastry delights. We wisely tried not to finish every last bite, knowing that the sweet creations were still to come—and we were so glad we saved some room!When the desserts arrived, I was astonished by the precision and artistry involved. The miniature Strathberry handbag and luggage tag were so beautifully crafted that it felt almost criminal to eat them. Every detail was exquisite and the treats tasted every bit as wonderful as they looked.Even the crockery stole the show, with its beautiful, sophisticated designs—especially the charming little bees, which I absolutely adored as I am rather partial to them. Put that with the very clean crisp white linen and I was sold. We were offered as much tea as we wished, never felt hurried and were kindly invited to take home anything we couldn’t manage. True Value for money. Just when we thought the experience had come to an end, out came the “finishing cake,” with a choice of pecan tart or chocolate cake—the perfect final flourish.It was a superb afternoon from beginning to end, combining exceptional service, stunning presentation and delicious food in a truly beautiful setting. I don’t think I’ll need to eat anything sweet for the next week—but it was absolutely worth it! A very special experience that I would highly recommend.
