  We stayed here after spending the day at Thorpe Park. Although our rooms were a tad dated and needed a bit of paint and upgrading they were both clean. My only complaint was that there was a stale smell in one of our rooms but with the windows open this disappeared. The staff were lovely and welcoming and the hotels location was perfect to the town centre and a short drive from Thorpe Park. We would stay here again

  Amazing bar and restaurant, went above and beyond to accommodate any requests I had and other guests. The bar and restaurant worked extremely hard but always had a smile on their face and made you feel extremely welcome, special thank you to Rohan who was extremely efficient and accommodating. I had been speaking to the chef one evening and happened to mention I had dietary restrictions, the next evening he suprised me with a special off the menu meal which he had prepared especially for me. They are all so friendly and treat you like family, exactly what you need when you are a female guest staying in a hotel alone making you feel safe.

  Noisy, Appalling sleep

  Started off in room 1, which lasted about 2 minutes. It had a paper thin connecting door with the adjacent room, and the person in there was noisily watching some questionable content. So I asked to be moved. The staff were accommodating, hence the extra star. I was moved to room 53, the only other free room. In this, the toilet was broken, resulting in the toilet noisily filling with water all night as the cistern overflowed. I had to drape a towel inside the bowl to deaden the noise. But it didn't matter - it's an old building with dodgy plumbing, so I was kept awake by all manner of strange noises: pumps working, random banging, loud bass vibrations etc. An appalling night's sleep, I'd have been better in a cheaper alternative.

  I booked through booking.com then thought to check the reviews. It didnt look good and then worried but I had nothing to worry about. We had no problem with the hotel. It was comfort in a great location the shower was powerful. The staff where friendly. We would definitely come back
