    CHECK YOUR BED SHEETS

    rating22 Sept 2026

Rooms are okay but I gotntonmy room at 2pm. Tired and I just dropped dead on the bed. They following morning when I woke up, theres was blood stain on my blanket. I didnt have any nosebleed or any pimples that I might have picked on. So, as a precaution, check your bedsheets before laying down.

Disturbing Experience and Serious Lack of Security

    rating10 Sept 2026

This was one of the most disturbing hotel experiences I have ever had.Around 6:30 a.m., we were abruptly woken by angry screaming, profanity, and a loud fight coming from another room. We immediately called the front desk to report what was happening. Rather than stopping, the situation continued and eventually escalated into a physical altercation involving at least three women.Because the situation was escalating, we called the front desk a second time and specifically asked that security be sent to the room. The fighting and screaming continued until after 7:00 a.m. It was an extremely jarring and unsettling way to be awakened, and frankly, we did not feel comfortable or safe knowing that a violent altercation was taking place elsewhere on the same floor.I completely understand that a hotel cannot control the behavior of every guest. What was particularly disappointing, however, was the apparent lack of an effective response once hotel staff were made aware of the situation. Guests should be able to expect that management has appropriate procedures and security measures in place when a situation escalates from a disturbance to a physical altercation. When we checked out early, we specifically asked the front desk about what had happened. We were told that the hotel did not have security and that staff had been preparing to send maintenance up to the room. That response was particularly concerning given that we had reported an active fight that had escalated physically. To be fair, the front desk employees we dealt with were nice and courteous, and they offered us breakfast. However, that does not address the underlying issue. What makes this even more disappointing is that I contacted both the front desk and management directly by email and also submitted the information through the hotel’s website because I wanted to give the hotel an opportunity to address the incident before posting a public review. I never received a response. The overall atmosphere at this hotel also seems to have gone downhill. I would never have expected to encounter such a rough and disruptive situation at this property, particularly an early-morning fight involving screaming, profanity, and physical violence that was allowed to continue for an extended period.Management needs to seriously evaluate its security and emergency-response procedures—not only for the safety and comfort of guests, but also for the safety of its own employees. This was a very disappointing experience and we will not stay here again. Ravi Gaur, Owner at The Westin Alexandria Old Town, responded to this review Dear Fearless222682,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Please accept our sincere apologies for the disturbance you encountered during your stay. The incident you described is not reflective of the safe and welcoming environment we strive to provide for our guests. We understand how unsettling this situation must have been, particularly in the early morning hours, and we regret that our response did not meet your expectations. The safety and security of our guests and associates are our highest priorities, and our team is trained to respond to situations such as these appropriately. That said, your feedback highlights an opportunity for us to improve. I will personally review this incident with our team and ensure additional training and reinforcement of our response procedures are provided so we can handle similar situations more effectively in the future. We also apologize that your follow-up communication did not receive a timely response. Thank you for bringing these concerns to our attention and providing us the opportunity to learn from your experience.Ravi GaurGeneral ManagerThe Westin Alexandria Old Town

Stayed five nights for a conference

    rating03 Jul 2026

I got to this hotel very early due to my flight being changed. I was able to sit and rest in the lobby. There is comfortable seating there. They got me a room by 11 a.m. That was very good.My room had a double bed. The room had an iron and an ironing board. I used those. The bathroom had a hair dryer and a magnifying mirror. The tub had a wand and rain shower head. My sink stopper didn't work. There was a robe but no slippers. The room also had a safe, but it wasn't working. I reported the safe and sink stopper at the front desk when I went out for dinner. The bed and room were comfortable. There is a desk with a lamp and a cabinet with shelving and drawers. There was one luggage rack. My room overlooked the front entryway. There were darkening drapes and a shade. There was a stand between the beds with electrical outlets and a clock and phone. On the second day I called the front desk to ask again that the safe and sink be fixed and reported that my refrigerator was being very noisy. I asked that it be fixed or unplugged. I attempted to unplug it but couldn't reach it. The sink was fixed by the time I got back to my room that evening. The safe and refrigerator never got fixed. I reported that in my email survey after my stay. I used the valet desk to order a cab. They were helpful. I used the restaurant and bar in the hotel. (see that separate review)

A Genuinely Accessible Hotel—Ask for Raul Canelas or Noel Cornista

    rating26 Jun 2026

I felt compelled to leave this review because of how the Westin Old Town Alexandria exceeded expectations on accessibility. When I first called the head of check-in, they said they couldn't provide a wheelchair accessible shower room. But by the time I arrived, they had secured one—and what a difference that made. For wheelchair users and people with disabilities: This hotel delivers. The accessible bathroom is one of the most thoughtfully designed I've experienced. The roll-in shower has no lip, appropriate slope to prevent flooding, and is genuinely easy to access. The light switches, mirrors, sink, and soap/shampoo/conditioner dispensers are all at accessible heights. There's a sturdy, height-adjustable fold-down bench seat in the shower, properly placed grab bars, and an emergency phone in the bathroom itself. These aren't afterthoughts—they're intentional, quality accommodations.About the floors: The lobby and main areas have beautiful hard flooring that's smooth and easy to roll on. The exterior sidewalks in this neighborhood are all brick, but the brick is rather smooth and did not present as much of a difficulty as I thought it might. The curb cuts are also very nice and safe. However, be aware that the hallway carpets are thick and difficult to push a manual wheelchair over, so you may want to plan routes or be prepared to ask staff for assistance with that transition.Every room ending in 42 on each floor has one of these accessible showers. There are additional rooms on each floor that have accessible bathtubs. But with six floors that's six chances to have an accessible shower in one hotel! That's pretty exciting to me.Special recognition to Night Auditor, Raul Canelas and Manager, Noel Cornista: These two staff members went above and beyond. They sent me photos of the possible room ahead of time with measurements and layout details so I could assess accessibility myself before booking. That kind of proactive communication and respect for my judgment made a real difference. They also helped me navigate independently to investigate the accessibility of the gym when I struggled to hold the key card in the elevator myself. If you have a disability and are considering this hotel, confirm the accessible room is available and specifically ask for Raul (nighttime) or Noel. They will take care of you.
