Two hotels now are one.

Holiday Inn Express has been physically combined with Hotel Indigo with which it shares a block. Be prepared to wander lengthy corridors to find where to check in (which is not at the old entrance for the Holiday Inn Express). Room was comfortable but wasn't cleaned or restocked until we asked on second day of our stay --staff may be over extended at this point. Really nice poolside area where we ate breakfast as public areas in the old entrance area were blasting out heat for some reason. There are many nice things about the hotel but be prepared to deal with the unexpected General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Austin Downtown - University by IHG, responded to this review Margaret, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are glad your room was comfortable and that you enjoyed relaxing by the poolside area during your stay. At the same time, it is disappointing to hear that our housekeeping and overall layout changes caused inconvenience for you. Your remarks about the public spaces and the check-in process are important, and our Guest Relations and housekeeping teams will review them closely. We appreciate your honesty and hope your next visit brings a smoother experience.

Nightmare hotel
30 Nov 2025
Hotel appeared nice...the room, the pool, but it became a nightmare. I had booked a room facing the pool but because of the government shutdown I came 2 days early, paid for early check in and got a city facing room full of FEATHER pillows that I'm allergic to (and I had requested a FEATHER FREE ROOM). Thursday night ok. Friday night the nightclub outside my window BLASTED NOISE so LOUD that my bed shook until 2am. I complained and was given a handicap room facing the pool for the Saturday night. When I went to shower I leaned slightly against one of the handicap rails in the tub and it fell off in my had RUSTED and ROTTED. I got no reduced rate for my nightmare 3 nights at that hotel. General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Austin Downtown - University by IHG, responded to this review Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re sorry your stay wasn’t as expected and can understand how frustrating it must have been to encounter these issues. Your feedback has been shared with our team for review, as we’re committed to improving future guest experiences.

We would stay here again. Location and price were decent, but will look at all hotel options if we come back to Austin.

Good value if you can get a room on sale. HVAC worked well. Reasonably quiet upper floor. They must’ve had some issues on the lobby floor with the AC because there were big fans in the breakfast buffet room and the gym. Bed and pillow were ok. Had a problem with the shower on our third night, but it was quickly resolved by the next day. Staff were all pleasant. Breakfast buffet was typical of mid-tier hotels - not find dining, but eatable. Access to Hotel Indigo lounge / bar was a nice bonus. !! Be aware that parking is $45 per day!! General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Austin Downtown - University by IHG, responded to this review Thank you, PaulAndCarrie, for taking the time to share such a detailed review. We’re glad you enjoyed the value and comfort of your stay, and appreciated our helpful team members and amenities. Your feedback about the lobby area and parking is helpful, and we’ll certainly keep it in mind as we look to improve. We hope you’ll consider staying with us again the next time you’re in Austin.

Good stay

Rooms were nice and clean. There was a lovely outdoor pool and lounge area. Very pretty. The breakfast was fine, not bad but could have had a little more variety. The cost of the hotel and the $50 parking per night are the two big issues that we had.Nice hotel but probably would not stay again due to the cost.
