  Do not stay here unless you want noise and a dingy room

  What a terrible hotel. The noise from downtown and within the hotel is horrible. Their standard room is small and disgusting. It was impossible finding valet parking. We will NEVER stay here again. PS-The front desk guy quite rude and not helpful at all Aloft River North, Owner at Aloft by Marriott Chicago Downtown River North, responded to this review Thank you for staying with us!   We had such a wonderful experience at this hotel. We were there for my husbands birthday. Everyone said happy birthday to him, offered us breakfast and there was even towels arranged to look like a birthday cake. Absolutely wonderful people who made our stay such a pleasure! Thank you!!!   Serious Bathroom Safety Concern & Disappointing Handling

  I stayed at this hotel earlier this year and suffered a serious fall in the bathroom when the shower floor became extremely slippery the moment the water was turned on. I hit my head against the exposed metal frame of the glass divider, resulting in a deep laceration and head injury that required ongoing medical treatment over the following months.What disappointed me most was the handling of the incident afterward. The hotel’s insurance representative provided shifting explanations regarding safety measures, and key questions about the scene conditions and investigation were never clearly addressed. Despite providing documentation and evidence, responsibility was repeatedly deflected, and the process became prolonged, confusing, and emotionally exhausting.As a guest, I expected transparency, accountability, and a genuine concern for safety, but these were not demonstrated throughout the process. I strongly encourage future guests to exercise caution and hope the hotel takes these safety issues seriously to prevent similar incidents.

  Good Location, Awkward Room Setup

  I'm not sure if all Alofts are set up this way, but the room was quite awkward. It takes open concept too far. It is not possible to turn on the bathroom lights without illuminating the entire room. Why is there a frosted glass window that looks out on the bedroom. The designers tried to be clever and boutiquey and instead you get a room that is awkward--I'm glad we only stayed two nights.The location is good. A few blocks from Michigan Avenue and close to lots of restaurants. The lobby is always buzzing. The restaurant (we did not eat there) was busy and noisy. It was not a calming feeling to walk into the place.I don't think I'd stay here again.

  Marathon week stay

  Stayed at the aloft hotel for a week during the marathon last week with a couple of hundred runners and I have to say it was top class. Very attentive staff who were extremely friendly.The hotel is very modern and trendy and in a brilliant location with the river walk only a ten minute walk while a nearby train station in river west takes you to o’ hare on the blue line. I dealt mainly with Richard Owen’s at the front desk who was amazing and could t have done more for me and my team. Top marks to Richard and look forward to next year. Carlos also at the front desk was great help on check out day. Thanks Carlos. See ye next year.
