No kettle, no iron, no sleep a disaster for business travelers (Room 1812)

    rating13 Jun 2026

I stayed in Room 1812 on a business trip and would not recommend this hotel to anyone who actually needs to work and rest.Start with the basics: no kettle and no iron in the room. For a business hotel, that's inexcusable. I couldn't make a tea in the morning or press clothes before meetings two things any traveler takes for granted. Having to call down or hunt for amenities that should already be in the room is the last thing you want when you're trying to prepare for a work day. Then there's the noise. The room was loud, with people voicing loudly at all times In the corridor and getting proper rest was a struggle. If you've got an early start or back-to-back meetings, a poor night's sleep is the difference between a good day and a bad one.Bottom line: if you're used to a standard of comfort and need a room that actually supports a business trip, this is a disaster. I won't be staying again and can't recommend it to fellow travelers AT ALL!!! General Manager, Agency / Consultant at Aloft Chicago Mag Mile, responded to this review Thank you for sharing this detailed account of your stay, koudchouxk. We are truly sorry that your experience in Room 1812 left you disappointed, especially as you were counting on your guest room to support both work and rest during a business trip. It is concerning to learn that essential amenities were missing and that noise levels in the corridor added to the frustration. Our Guest Relations and housekeeping teams work hard to ensure every guest has what they need, and we are sorry your visit did not reflect that commitment. Your comments highlight areas where we need to do better to meet the needs of business travelers, and we appreciate you being so candid.Thank you again for providing your insights. We will use your experience to help us make meaningful changes moving forward.

Great job improving their service - my current goto hotel in Chicago

    rating10 Apr 2026

After my terrible experience with Aloft last time and a candid conversation with their general manager, I've gotta say everything has improved tremendously, to the point that it's now a hotel I stay at whenever I have to be in town (which's quite frequent). The location is great (close to everything), and especially next to the yoga studio that I can hop in for a quick yoga workout. The room is always clean, and bright. The staff is super responsive and accommodating. They have breakfast and free coffee in the morning, which I utilize quite often, given how sleep-deprived I'm most of the time.Really great job for a quick turnaround. I highly recommend this for your stay in Chicago. General Manager, Agency / Consultant at Aloft Chicago Mag Mile, responded to this review What a wonderful update to receive, Huong! It is incredibly rewarding to hear that your experiences at Aloft Chicago Mag Mile have evolved so positively after your previous visit. Knowing you now choose us as your go-to in Chicago, especially with how often you travel, truly motivates our team. We're so pleased our central location and proximity to your favorite yoga studio make your routine a little easier, and we're glad your room has felt consistently clean and bright. It is also great to know you have been able to enjoy breakfast and coffee in the mornings during your stays. Your endorsement means a great deal to us.Thanks again for your support and recommendation. We look forward to welcoming you whenever your travels bring you back to Chicago!

The worst staff I’ve ever seen in a hotel

    rating09 Apr 2026

We are currently staying at the hotel, and the rooms are very nice. However, the reception staff and the breakfast service staff are very unpleasant, rude, and failed to attend to us properly—especially the waitress in charge of breakfast. She was extremely rude. General Manager, Agency / Consultant at Aloft Chicago Mag Mile, responded to this review Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Odyssey09788326803. While it is good to hear that you found your room comfortable, we are sorry that your interactions with our front desk and breakfast teams left you feeling disappointed. This is not the type of service we want our guests to encounter. Our Guest Relations team will be taking your feedback seriously and addressing the concerns you raised. We are grateful you brought this to our attention.

    Did the job !

    rating08 Apr 2026

Check-in was smooth and efficient, which made for a good start to the stay. However, the booking process was a bit misleading. When I searched on Expedia, it indicated that breakfast was included, but this turned out to be an extra charge at checkout. I initially assumed, given it’s the USA that this would mean a buffet-style breakfast. In reality, it was limited to selecting one item from a menu. We chose the oatmeal, which was fine, but not quite what we expected based on the description. That said, the breakfast experience itself had some positives. The lady serving was super friendly and welcoming, and the coffee was very good especially the freshly brewed decaf, which isn’t always as nice as regular coffee. It was a nice touch to have two bottles of water in the room on arrival. The quilt on the bed, however, was very thin. Luckily, with two queen beds, we were able to use the cover from the other bed to stay comfortable. To be fair, we chose not to have the heating on overnight, but a thicker quilt would still have been appreciated. One tip for future guests: don’t get confused when booking an Uber or Lyft, there are two Aloft hotels in town, so it’s worth double-checking your destination.Overall, a mixed experience with some thoughtful touches, but also a few areas that could be improved. General Manager, Agency / Consultant at Aloft Chicago Mag Mile, responded to this review Thank you for sharing such a detailed review, Mark. We are glad to hear that your check-in experience was smooth and that our team at breakfast helped start your day with a warm welcome and excellent coffee. We appreciate your feedback regarding the booking process and the details around breakfast, as well as your notes about the quilt in your room. Your suggestions and observations help us understand where we can make changes and where we are getting things right. Thank you again for choosing Aloft Chicago Mag Mile, and we hope to have the opportunity to offer an even better experience next time.

A great place to stay that is close to the Magnificent Mile.

    rating30 Mar 2026

The family decided on a last minute trip to start Spring Break and visit the city of Chicago. This is our second stay here. We found this place last second for a gymnastics meet my daughter was in and booked and made it downtown before the snowstorm back in January 2024. The accomodations were fantastic during our first visit, so we decided on another trip over the weekend. The check in was easy and we were able to get settled into our rooms with ease, along with Valet parking. The Lobby is very nice. There is quite a bit of seating, along with the fireplace, and there is a bar where you can grab a drink after a day of eating and site seeing. They do have a refuel place to order food, and you can also order breakfast for a cost. There was a mixed blend of young adults and families so it can cater to many different people. There was a DJ over the weekend, so families were entertained by music. The location is great. There are a lot of places to dine, as well as being close to the Magnificient Mile for shopping and sight seeing. Uber and Lyft is also easy access and fairly quick. The rooms were well appointed. The beds were very comfortable, but the shower did not have as much pressure as I'd like. The soap dispenser was broken, and when I informed the front desk, they said someone would be up to repair, but that did not happen. That was the only minor inconvenience. Other than that, the stay was quite enjoyable, and we will plan another long weekend there over the summer. General Manager, Agency / Consultant at Aloft Chicago Mag Mile, responded to this review We are truly grateful you and your family chose Aloft Chicago Mag Mile for your spring getaway, and it is wonderful to know this is your second visit with us. Hearing that check-in was smooth and that you enjoyed our vibrant lobby spaces, as well as the lively weekend atmosphere, is fantastic. Thank you for sharing the details of what made your stay enjoyable, from the location’s convenience to the comforts of your guest room.We are sorry to learn about the shower pressure and the soap dispenser issue you encountered on this visit. It is disappointing to hear that the needed repair did not take place as promised, and we will ensure our engineering and Guest Relations teams look into what happened so similar inconveniences can be avoided in the future.Your feedback helps us continue creating memorable stays for guests from all walks of life. We cannot wait to welcome you and your family again for another long weekend this summer!
