    Customer service means nothing, and Hilton Honors is worthless

    I booked a room here for August — or so I thought, until I realized the date was set for the same day I was looking. As a result, I was charged for the night. I immediately saw my error and canceled the reservation within 5 minutes. My money, though, was gone. Still, it showed canceled on my end. I am a Hilton rewards member, and I thought that by explaining my error (I did plan to book there for August), they would at least give me a partial refund. So I wrote Hilton customer service, and they forwarded the request to the hotel.After a few days, the hotel wrote back, and Akur wrote to say:“After reviewing your reservation details, it indicates that this reservation was not cancelled in our system. Therefore, a one-night room and tax no show fee was applied and unfortunately, we are unable to refund this amount.  If you can provide any supporting documents, such as a cancellation email supporting that this reservation was cancelled, then we can certainly revisit this case.”So naturally I responded with a screenshot of the reservation that showed cancelled on my end. I did not receive an email. So Akur says:“This reservation was never cancelled in our system which is the reason the "no show" fee was applied. A cancellation fee can be waived under probable causes after the deadline. If you can provide an email confirming that this reservation was cancelled, even if it was past the deadline, then we can reconsider the refund.”But I did cancel the reservation, and that is what is reflected in my Hilton account. The problem here is Hilton’s software workflow. Events such as a cancellation should create a chain of events, such as, oh, showing that I cancelled the reservation on their side. It did not. Somehow, though, this is MY problem, and not theirs.I reluctantly have to conclude that being a Hilton Honors member is worthless and means nothing. If their software is broken, well, too bad for me. This was an expensive mistake, but no human being will make it right for me. At this point, I would suggest literally any other Hotel chain, and certainly not this location.

    Great staff, enjoy the stay

    Warren at the front desk has made this stay truly great and memorable. I’ve never encountered a more helpful hotel employee. I give him 5 stars. Oscar at the front desk has been great too. The staff in large part is what makes this hotel worthwhile, in addition to the convenient location and spacious suites.

    Not a bad option for downtown Chicago, but some of the staff, especially the workers in the breakfast area, need to understand they're working in the hospitality industry. It wouldn't hurt to be a bit hospitable. The rooms are fine, a little worn.

    Today on April 30th 2026 went to the hotel breakfast buffet, I was there to kill time after waking up early, good food and everything, I heard the Spanish speaking lady’s workers talk between themselves about me how I was there for too long that I needed to leave ,kind of made me feel insulted, I know I’m white color person but I can understand Spanish , don’t make the breakfast buffet style if you don’t want to eat “all your” food. Kind of hurt my feeling since I’m just visiting Chicago….

    The front desk assistants started the experience with their positive and helpful attitudes. Questions answered...Checked in. Thank you, Vanessa and Akur.Our room was perfect. One of the quietest room ever. Speaking of room, Delia cleaned and took care of our room and us for three nights.Breakfast each day was great! The food options were plentiful and the restaurant clean. Daniela was one of the servers. She was friendly to everyone and continued to take care of everyone's needs. Her colleagues were also hard working.We had a marvelous time in Chicago.. Thanks to our home-based team.
