    Let me start with the positive. The location of the hotel was fine. The room was fine. The Hilton Grand Vacations (HGV) concierge was lovely, empathetic, and tried to be helpful.Now let me take you through our day.We arrived at the Hilton Doubletree in Chicago a little after 9 AM. We had requested early check-in, but certainly didn't expect it at that time. We checked our bags and we're told that we would be called when the room was ready.We had a lovely day touring various parts of Chicago, by the time 2 PM came around, we were quite tired as we had been up since 5 AM and we are both well into our senior years. We had not heard anything from the hotel up to this point.We returned to the Doubletree about 2 pm to find that the room was still not ready. Most of the Doubletree staff seemed stressed and were not empathetic to our issues. In fact, seemed uninterested in HGV guests. We then sat in the not terribly pleasant lobby for the next nearly two hours and watched at least 20 people come in and check in to the doubletree hotel within minutes of their arrival! The Doubletree was NOT a good match with HGV. The public areas were not the same quality as HGV and was not what we or paid for or expected . We were finally allowed to go to our room a little before 4 PM.Needless to say, we were not happy with the situation in Chicago and would certainly not recommend HGV if they cannot be more consistent with their services.

    Great stay at the Hilton Chicago Magnificent Mile Suites. The location is excellent — walking distance to Michigan Avenue, restaurants, and the lake. The rooms are spacious with a separate living area, which made it very comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful throughout the stay. Overall, a very convenient and solid choice for Chicago. Would definitely stay here again.

    Check-in was bumpy. We were told the hotel double booked our HGV room, despite a confirmed reservation months in advance. It is not a typical HGV room. No kitchen. No laundry. Basically a typical hotel room, even as a “one bedroom.” A waste of HGV points. No communication from the hotel when they turned off the water for a few hours. No advance notice, no communication when the water was turned back on, despite a request to the front desk. No cleaning service in the room! We were there 5 nights and no one came by to pick up garbage, replace towels, or any service. When we asked the front desk about the schedule, we were told it was an additional cost to schedule cleaning services! Great location near Magnificent Mile and Navy Pier. Just not what we were expecting from an HGV.

    The location of the HGVC is a great location in downtown Chicago-- easy walking distance of Navy Pier, Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), many shops & restaurants; not far from CTA Red line station. The staff was friendly & kind. The room was lovely & bed was comfortable. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
