    My review for the Holiday Inn Express in Niles, Illinois is a mixed one. Positives:1. The location and price were great. We were visiting family in Chicago. The hotel’s location was convenient and the price was reasonable compared to hotels in Chicago.2. Jeremy, the front desk clerk was always friendly. 3. The breakfast buffet had lots of choices. There were apples and bananas, hardboiled eggs, yogurt, oatmeal, cinnamon rolls, mini muffins, bagels and bread for toasting. Hot items included scrambled eggs, premade cheese omelets, roasted potatoes, and a pancake machine. There was a different meat selection every day. On the four mornings we were there, we had pork sausage, bacon, turkey sausage, and biscuits with sausage gravy. 4. Coffee was available in the lobby 24/7. The coffee machine would grind the beans and brewed the coffee, so your coffee was always fresh.Negatives:1. From the night we arrived I noticed that the carpets needed to be vacuumed. Trash on the carpet, both in the hallways and in our room, remained on the carpet and was never vacuumed up during our 4-night stay. 2. Also when we arrived, two rolls of toilet paper were on the toilet paper holders in our bathroom, but the paper wrappers were still on both rolls of toilet paper. We had to take the rolls of toilet paper off the toilet paper holders, remove the paper wrappers, and then replace the rolls of toilet paper back on the toilet paper holder. I have never stayed in a hotel where the paper wrapper was left on the toilet paper when it was on the toilet paper holder. This is minor, but is indicative of how lazy housekeeping seemed to be. 3. Tables in the dining room never seemed to get cleaned. Every morning at breakfast we would have to clean our own table. 4. The baseboards in the bathroom were filthy. 5. Some of the towels have yellowed badly and need to be replaced. 6. Drinking cups were not replaced in our room daily. 7. We stayed 4 nights at this property. There was only one day that our beds were made. When I went to the front desk to report this, the front desk clerk said that beds were made daily only if we were staying at least 5 days. I showed him the paper we’d been given at check-in that said beds were made daily for guests staying 2+ nights, and that we were staying 4 nights. I stated that housekeeping needed to be made aware that the beds needed to be made. They came in our room to replace the towels and empty the trash, so I don’t understand how they could do that, but not make the beds. I have no idea if anything was ever said to the housekeeping staff.     Too many issues on this stay.

    Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was very disappointing. Upon arrival, my room keys didn’t work, which was a frustrating start. Once I got into the room, it had a noticeable unpleasant smell, and the water pressure in the shower was extremely low, making it difficult to even rinse off properly.To make matters worse, I saw ants in the breakfast area—completely unacceptable from a hygiene and food safety standpoint. While I understand that no place is perfect, the combination of these issues shows a clear lack of attention to basic maintenance and cleanliness.I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless serious improvements are made. I have reached out directly to the Hotel but the response showed lack of concerns for the issues presented.     This property is well maintained and very well run. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. I really enjoyed the the modern, clean lines. Also very quiet, nobody running up and down the halls or slamming doors. Breakfast was OK but NO bacon 9nly turkey sausage. Would definitely stay there again.

    Holiday Inn just stole my money when I tried to cancel

    This review is about a trip that did not happen. I went online to Holiday Inn express Niles Illinois to make a reservation. I clicked on the box that said I was making a clicked on the box that said I was making a reservation and would pay for my stay when I checked in. I did foolishly give them my credit card that I would be using. .Everything seemed to go well and I received a confirmation. The very next day I learned I would not be able to make the trip. When I tried to cancel,. . It became parent that I had been redirected to the hot wire.com site for the reservation. The hotel refused to cancel my reservation and told me I had to go through hotel.com. The site was confusing and it took me a while to figure out how to even cancel online. By the time I had gotten through I was two hours too late for free cancellation and was charged the full amount of my stay. I then spent 45 minutes online trying to talk to hotline chat line and although they sympathized, they said they would have to go through the hotel and the hotel never got back to them.. I feel thoroughly ripped off and will never in my entire life. Use hot wire or stay at a Holiday Inn of any kind because of this horrific incident.
