    Disappointed with inflexible policy

    Similar story about no refund: I did not get to stay for my reserved night of March 16 2026 as my airline sent me a severe weather alert and cancellation on March 15 I called hotel to change reservation to March 23 but they could not make change as I had booked via Expedia. I called Expedia, who called hotel, and they did offer a change for a mere $1 additional but I was unable to rebook air online so I asked them to hold It took me >5 hours to rebook air and when I phoned Expedia again, they called hotel and were told that only the manager could approve change. I called the next morning (March 16) and despite all the notes about my March 15 phone calls and approved change, manager said that I was beyond the window for change and did not offer any refund Hotel put through charge at 3:18 AMI lost that money but when I rebooked for March 23, you can bet that it was for a different hotel Guest Services, Owner at Sonesta Simply Suites Chicago O'Hare Airport, responded to this review We are very sorry for your experience and certainly understand your frustration with our policy. Please know that we always encourage travelers to book with us directly for the best value and assistance. Nevertheless, we appreciate your feedback, and we wish you well in your future travels.

    They might not make refund of 150$ deposit

    If you are planning to stay in this hotel, you have to take a risk that they won't make refund of 150$ deposit. They didn't refund me. I called the hotel, wrote a lot of messages to the guest service. After two weeks the hotel wrote me as if microwave and the carpet in the room were damaged and required additional cleaning and maintenance. Nonsense. Take detailed video and pictures of the room you stayed at check - out in case of unreasonable charge.

    They advertised having a baby cot available, but then told us they don’t have one. The worst part was that they refused to cancel the booking, or even change the dates for us. They don’t allow any changes at all, even if the fault is on their end, which it was. They made a mistake and refused to fix it. Very poor customer service.

    The WORST manager I've experienced in decades of hotel stay. Karen Hoosier. I flew in from Boston for an event I was covering in Chicago. The room was booked and paid through booking.com When I arrive a young gentleman with glasses informed me there is $150 security deposit. Its not listed on the site booking confirmed it. I said fine Im tired I will just pay it. I was told they dont allow Google pay. Different but ok. Fine go back to my car get my card and he swipes it. $150. Karen then says "we dont accept those cards" loud. I said excuse me? "We dont accept prepaid cards" I said "Ma'am dont be condescending you clearly are misinformed about credit cards. This is a CROME CREDIT CARD VISA. You can design them now to your liking.I used it to book this flight, rent a car from Enterprise, book this room and a boat ride this evening. Clearly its not a prepaid card." She rudely said well we dont take them contact booking. Im stranded its 98 degrees and she tells me to figure it out. Booking immediately filed a complaint, and expedited a refund. I was able to get a room at Ohare Marriott guess what? SAME CARD! It was more money of course but the ease and customer service was worth it. I have gone through great lengths to get this complaint to the right person. This location doesn't have a GM. Karen and the other manager are friends so any complaints won't be honored. Im going every site, BBB, etc. Karen does not belong in Hotel management.

    Denied check In to my 18 year-old daughter

    This property would not permit my 18 year old daughter to check-in on the evening before her flight back to UK. They left her in an unsafe situation in Chicago . I booked and paid in advance for the hotel via Booking.com. When she arrived Mohammed denied her check-in because she was 18. We spoke to his manager who advised we needed to get someone over 21 to check her in. Another guest offered to do this so we changed the booking to the other guest's name but Mohammed still refused and threatened to call the police stating it was a state law - which we now know it is not. We were on a call from the UK but my daughter told he seemed to be finding the situation funny. I have yet to hear about a refund despite the service not being provided. The stress this caused was completely unnecessary. I would award zero if I could.
