Don't bother if using Chase Sapphire

    rating25 May 2026

Booked through Chase Sapphire Edit program. Hotel is luxurious with excellent facilities. It is poorly managed, staff is poorly trained and are, at times, overwhelmed. Did not get the room upgrade. Received a horrible room, 1215, across from the service room where housekeeping and room-service work all-day; constant noise - door slamming, staff talking/yelling in the hallway. At check-in, was told I would get a daily room credit for the included breakfast - which is not entirely accurate. It's not a credit, it is use-it-or-lose-it; with balance billing. I can't remember the exact amount of the stipend but it does not cover their basic "Peninsula Breakfast." Was told at check-in our "late" check-out time is noon; which was fine we were leaving away. On check-out day, went to lobby early to review folio and then had breakfast in the lobby. After clearing our plates it took about 1/2 hour to get the check, got back to the room at 10:30 am; and our keys did not work; I asked the supervising housekeeper to let us in. She said she couldn't but would call the front desk. I overheard her say- "I show they are checked-out." After waiting a long time, a guy from the front desk came and let us back into the room, but did not bring a key. I asked for him to bring us a key, and he never came back, we got no additional response. There was a message on the TV indicating we checked-out. When booking through Chase Sapphire, whether using points or hard money, you pay a premium but it's "fool's gold." (You don't get the benefits.) What's the point if the hotel is going to treat you as if you booked through an on-line discount provider. (At Z Bar, they are rude. I'm not sure if it's managed by the hotel, though; so, won't bother with the details.) Wonderful weekend stay. Top notch.

    rating26 Apr 2026

My wife and I spent two nights at the Peninsula Chicago while visiting friends. This is simply one of the best run hotels in the United States. Our suite was comfortable, quiet and spacious. Service from housekeeping and in-room dining was excellent. Our breakfasts and a lunch in the Lobby restaurant were also top-notch. I’d give it 6 stars if I could. Peninsula Chicago, General Manager at The Peninsula Chicago, responded to this review Dear rpgold,Thank you for sharing your kind review following your weekend stay. It is wonderful to read that your suite, the thoughtful service from our team, and your time in The Lobby made your visit memorable. Amazing as always!

    rating05 Apr 2026

Perfect from start to finish! Decided on a last minute overnight stay over spring break with my husband and 2 kids ( 9 & 11). Joy at the front desk was an absolute delight. We have stayed at the Peninsula several times and every single person we have ever come in contact with has been amazing. The location is prime for Gold Coast- kiddos enjoyed the scavenger hunt around the hotel and really loved the pool. Can't say enough about this hotel, highly recommend it for any kind of trip you are planning. Flawless, Elegant, Joyful Stay for Three-Generation Family Return Visit

    rating13 Feb 2026

We returned to The Peninsula as a family of 8 (3 different rooms) and were even more blown away by our stay than the first time we came. I didn't think it could get better, but it did. What worked: Anticipatory service; genuine warmth and friendliness; excellent food and beverage, include innovative and new dishes in The Lobby for breakfast, and the fabulous and friendly team at Pierrot Gourmet (not to be missed! Their team is so joyful, efficient and friendly and the pastries and food are phenomenal). Front desk, housekeeping, concierge and valet are endlessly helpful, gracious and happy to see you and help you, at all hours of the day. Vince Reyes, in particular, was a joy to work with. I had a question before the trip, and he immediately helped me with care, concern and an easy and genuine approach that made me feel like he was more than happy to help. He was gracious and kind, and helped make our trip to Chicago much more than a trip, but a special celebration that we will remember for a very long time. Also, the interiors are so beautiful and elegant, the blues and creams so elevated and in an understated, not trying-so-hard way, it makes the stay all the more memorable and soothing. (The floral brocade wall decor with the bee ... so stunning). To sum it up, my five-year-old asked if we could "move in" on our last day. I shared the same desire, and you probably will too. Peninsula Chicago, General Manager at The Peninsula Chicago, responded to this review Dear heartsunited33,Thank you for sharing your generous feedback on your family’s return visit to The Peninsula Chicago. We had a girls trip planned for the grey days of January. Floyd at the front desk took amazing care of us. We ate amazing food at the Lobby and room service. Room was spotless and had every possible thing you could need. Mood lighting in the rooms was fantastic. I can’t recommend this hotel enough. New all time favorite. We will be back.
