  The Ritz or maybe....The Pitz?

  I come to Chicago annually for a conference and this year I picked the Ritz. Mistake-upsold me on check in to a suite, never should have done it-nice suite BUT must have been on top of the laundry and I heard "WHOMP WHOMP WHOMP" from the spin cycle. At 10 pm. Then someone banging on the door at 11. -Oddly, they left two plastic bags of cheap candy in the room without any note. I think it was a welcome gift??-requested room change and manager tried to get me to pay part of the upgrade fee-I got an email from one of the other managers, addressed to the wrong name. They used an iteration of my email address instead of my name. -finally got a new room, asked for a comp dinner for my troubles. They offered a $60 credit. Anyone who has stayed in Chicago, much less in a hotel, knows that won't cover dinner. Refused to increase to $75 (which still wouldn't have covered dinner). -dinner in the hotel was nice. Food was pretty good, not stellar. Host Jennifer and waiter Cristos were both lovely. appetizer, small entree, dessert, glass of wine and tea. $140 with tax and tip. -next day went to my conference, came back at 1. Room not cleaned but it's still early. Left at 3:30, came back at 10. ROOM NEVER CLEANED. I finally got mad and then the manager told me not to shout. I had to call again just to get new coffee pods for the next day-finally addressed by Kareem (sp?) who agreed to the full cost of the meal and was apologetic. -oh and apparently turn down service is on a whimIf an establishment has a reputation, they should try to live up to it. Most staff were very nice and tried hard. But I felt nickled and dimed. When you stay at The Ritz, expectations should be high, in my opinion. Despite the apology, I won't stay there again. It's not worth it.

  This was my first time staying at a Ritz-Carlton but it certainly left a lasting impression. From stunning views and spacious rooms to impeccable service from the staff, it was certainly a memorable stay!

  Sadly, this property should not be booked for a few reasons. Number one the customer service is absolutely awful if you have an issue. I have called eight times, I have call records to prove it have left messages for management and not one of them have called me back. Tony apparently is the director of operations, but has a difficult time returning phone calls. We stayed at the property for Mother’s Day weekend and we were in a two room suite, we utilized the restaurant and the spa. You think having spent thousands of dollars they would get back to me, but I’m still waiting for my return calls. We used the valet parking Service. If you have a nice vehicle, I would recommend parking at a super eight because your Customerservice would be better. Upon checkout, the valet had the door open for me, my car was pulled up to the car in front of me and there was a car to my right, so I had to wait for the car on the right to move before I could pull away. We drove 20 minutes to our next stop, and when I got out to plug the parking meter I had noticed damage to my vehicle, which is an Escalade. I immediately called hotel, I asked if I should come back with my car and was told they would get a hold of me. We went to our appointment. I waited for someone to call me back and no one did. I called back three hours later because we are ready to head back toWisconsin and I asked again. Should I come back, again? I was told somebody would get a hold of me. Again, no one did. Monday morning.I called the hotel again to where I got the third-party valet company and they said they would make a claim. The person that makes a-claim got a hold of me and we did the claim and the next day I got an email stating the claim was denied. Keep in mind I asked them to pull the cameras. I have three witnesses with me that know my car was not damaged when I entered the valet and know that it was damaged when it came out of the valet. The woman at this third-party site also does not return emails or phone calls because I have disputed this decision and I have asked them to pull the cameras on multiple occasions to this day not one management or valet person has returned my call and I now have a damaged vehicle This is not acceptable Service of a Ritz Carlton. I would expect this from the super eight, but I am absolutely shocked at how they treat some of their top paying customers! I do not recommend anyone stay here because they don’t care.

  One night stay, followed by a full day making use of the conference facilities. I’m a big fan of Ritz Carlton but had not yet visited this Chicago location. It did not disappoint, everything was great from checking in to checking out. Had a great night sleep too.
