    When ‘No’ Comes First: A Disappointing Stay That Fell Short of Hilton Standards

    This stay at Home2 Suites by Hilton, North Dallas was capped off by a frustrating customer service experience.On my final day, I asked for a reasonable one-hour late checkout, from 11:00 a.m. to noon. The front desk clerk, Tiarra, immediately started from a place of “no,” saying they could not honor the request because the hotel was busy. This was two days after Christmas, and when I left there were only two cars in the parking lot and no visible activity in the hotel.After I said this was unacceptable and asked to speak with the general manager, she left the phone line and then returned to say the request could be honored. She added the words “this time,” framing it as if she were doing me an unusual favor rather than providing basic customer service. As a Hilton Honors member, I expect a one-hour late checkout to be handled professionally, especially when occupancy is clearly low.This was not the only issue. Upon arrival, I specifically asked for the top floor due to sensitivity to noise and footsteps. This same clerk placed me on the fourth floor instead and heard footsteps above me during the stay.Overall, this was a poor customer service experience that fell well short of Hilton standards.

    I got charged for an extra night's stay and can't get anyone there to give me the refund I'm due.

    I was charged for an extra night's stay because a front desk clerk didn't check me out of my rooms in spite of my leaving and giving her our room keys. When I called the next day to see about it I was treated rudely by the manager on duty, Jose, and did not get the full refund I should have gotten. First Jose said he'd need to check the room key history to confirm there had been no activity and later he told me there was a two night minimum associated with the reservation even though there was nothing about it my confirmation. I have always love Hiltons and have stayed at them for years. One lousy manager has completely changed my opinion of the place.

    This location is not operated like most Hilton hotels. The general maintenance is poor and the management staff are not the typical level of other Hilton hotels.

    Privately Owned Hotel that Implements Non-Hilton Policies

    First of all, Anthony at the front desk was AMAZING. None of this reflects upon him. He was patient and professional, which helped keep me calm in a frustrating situation. My husband travels for work a lot. He was in Maine and my children and I needed to go to Dallas for a football game. He has booked hotels for us with his credit card probably over 20 times and we have NEVER had this issue. This hotel requires you to have the physical card and matching ID unless you've stayed with them at least ten times. This is privately owned Hilton, so I guess they can implement any policy they want. They also charge you a $75 deposit that you only get back after they inspect the room and decide you didn't damage anything. We took pictures and video of issues in the room as soon as we got in it because I read a review where other people had said the hotel kept their deposit and accused them of damages that they did not do. The massive issue here is that none of this is listed on their website, or in the Hilton app. We obviously wouldn't have stayed here if it was. I realize that most people have the card they booked the room with on them and this won't be an issue for everyone, however, it should be listed! If we would have had time before the event we were going to was starting, we would have switched hotels. The stay ended up being fine. The room was good and the breakfast was on par for hotel breakfasts. The one star is for the lack of information when booking.     When I arrived they did not have the room I requested-one with a walk in showerThe attendant had to call housekeeping to check 33 rooms to see if they had a walk in shower.Finally they found oneI would have expected that since I put it in my reservation someone would know when I got there AGM At Your Service, Guest Services / Front Office at Home2 Suites by Hilton North Dallas Central Expy, responded to this review Hello and thank you for choosing to stay with us.
