  Great location, close to Zabriskie Point, Artist Palette and Badwater Basin. Also close to the Furnace Creek visitor station and the only gas station in Furnace Creek. It was 115-degrees when we visited here so the pool was a must. Incredible outdoor experience here and we also enjoyed the Ice Cream parlor. Keep in mind that they close fairly early. Breakfast was OK, but that's not why we stayed here.

  Great location but needs modernization and basic upkeep. Positives; Location, location, location- A few miles from some of the most astounding places I've ever seen. Good staff- Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful.Wonderful thermal pool -Very relaxing after day's trekking. In the room there is no information about the place other than on the listing different extensionsonthe room room. Nothing beyond the phone numbers. The pool is wonderful, especially considering it's in the middle of the driest spot in North America, but too many things are unrepaired, slipshod or neglected to give it a higher rating. The entrance door to our building slammed shut with a bang unless held extremely firmly all the way shut, very disturbing after bedtime. The handle in the pool changing room shower came entirely off in my hand and the whole shower plumbing was held together with a hose clamp and a bungee cord. The bathtub in our room was dented and dated appearing. The food is overpriced and portions are ridiculously small. Go with the buffet.

  Very expensive, disgusting breakfast and surprise resort fees following check out

  We have stayed at the ranch previously when it was very basic amenities back in 2018. We heard it had been refurbished and remodelled in 2019 so thought we would try again. The price of the room was over £400 but we did opt for a newer cottage so went with this. We were shocked on arrival to find the room dark and dusty with very little provided in complimentary tea/coffee. Everything is geared for you buying in tbe general store on site at inflated prices. The beds and bathroom were clean though. We were very disappointed to learn the entire resort is cashless now so you have to pay on card for everything. Something which is not on the website or advised on checking in online or at the front desk reception. Luckily we were still able to pay for food or we would have been very hungry as there is nowhere else to go in death valley!!! The menu in the saloon was overpriced and limited and breakfast in 1893 was beyond appalling. Very little choice for a buffet with old food left under hot plates (we were there for breakfast at 9am too). The pool was beautiful and the highlight of our stay on the resort itself. (It really was just a base for us to visit nearby sights such as harmony borax and bad water basin for example (both amazing but not part of this resort). The worst thing about the stay was yet to come after leaving with a surprise resort fee of $28 per person for the night to account for the amenities on site (one of which was closed for the season and it was a tavern which we would have gone to) yet we were still charged the full resort fee!!! Beware!!!! Particularly if staying multiple nights as this was not advised on checking in or checking out!!! Just charged to my credit card!!!!! Overall a disappointing second stay here.....perhaps it should have been left as it was in 2018 where cash was king and life was simple!

  Central Location for Exploring - Everything you Need is Here

  We enjoyed our stay at the Ranch. It's not too far from here to any of the main sightseeing spots, the visitor's center and the gas station...so it's easy to explore, the come back to the Ranch for a shower, dinner and relaxing. During our stay (not always available), there was a live band playing at night and star gazing. The host brought his large telescope to the golf course where he guided us for a look around all of the stars in the night sky...something we can never see living in the city...he was extremely knowledgeable and it was a free activity. There are several restaurants and a museum to take a look at...it's also close (driving) to the Inn so went there for breakfast one morning - delicious. Staff are very kind and helpful. Nice stay.

  Very Disappointing visit

  The Ranch at Death Valley was a great disappointment. We had booked several months early and it turned out that our stay happened to fall during the wildflower bloom in the desert, which was a great plus. A week in advance, we tried to extend our stay one night, but they now wanted over $1000 per night for a room that cost us less than $200 - seemed like a clip joint move. The room we did get was off in an outbuilding, with decor and amenities stuck in the 1960s. Old carpet and furnishings. Old air system. I'm really not sure they'd done anything to these rooms since then. There was construction going on on the premises so we had the displeasure of listening to big machinery while trying to enjoy our holiday. To make a gross situation grosser, we tried the buffet and it was probably one of the worst meals I've ever had. Freezer fish sticks, frozen peas and carrots, salad out of a bag with sparse condiments, stale pizza. And it was expensive. I will give one star for the variety of merchandise in a couple of the shops and for the ice cream. But stay here again? Nope.
