    Disappointed

    rating12 Jun 2026

This hotel is surprisingly less than the sum of its parts. The location on 15th Street is excellent. The bar and lobby are bright and modern. The lobby features a self-service shop which provides drinks and snacks. The bar area is pleasant, and the bar staff were friendly and professional. The suites are spacious, clean and well appointed, even if the decor is rather dull and depressing.I didn't warm to the place for a few reasons. On arrival after a long international flight and an interaction with a taxi driver where it took several attempts before my card payment was successful, I arrived at the front desk to find the receptionist engaged in a long telephone conversion with a representative of a company regarding the illegal parking of a car. The conversation went on and on. I just wanted to check in. My room wasn't ready...at eight pm. I was allocated another room. Not sure what the difference would have been. $700 was deducted from my account as a "hold" in case of damage. I was really tired and this wasn't properly explained. This should have given me an indication of the type of hotel this was. Any reasonably upmarket hotel with a decent clientele does not need to do this. The reception staff made no effort to interact during my week-long stay. While marketed as a conference hotel, the clientele were definitely not conference attendees for the most part. I did wonder about who exactly the hotel provides accommodation for. One scruffily-dressed guest was getting breakfast for his child who was upstairs before "taking him to school." Several guests attended breakfast while wearing pyjamas. The breakfast room is a very basic canteen with cheap furniture and several televisions. Staff members in this area would give a better impression if they were provided with more professional attire. They didn’t interact with guests. Tea, coffee and hot water are in urns. Hospital waiting room spec. Juice, really sugared water, is also in dispensers. Scrambled egg, sausages and potatoes were the hot food. Oatmeal/porridge was more like gruel. Bread, fruit, muffins and bagels were also provided, as well as one large bowl of chopped fruit. I soon discovered Sam's Diner nearby.I don't understand why such a key piece of real estate is operated in such a way. This hotel has so much potential. It needs properly trained reception staff and breakfast staff, room redecoration and a complete renovation of the breakfast room with proper staffing and facilities. Very disappointed

    Meh.

    rating01 May 2026

The location is top notch. The Homes2 Suites is with Tru by Hilton. The door that would be most convenient to use (on 15th Street) wasn't operational - either by choice or by mechanical issue. We were in a corner room on the 13th floor. The walls were so thin, we could hear housekeeping cleaning a window/mirror in the room next door (you know, that squeaky sound). There's not great sound barrier to the street below, either. Our first night was Saturday and I swear there was street drag racing till all hours of the morning. That part isn't the hotel's fault of course.Security - you have to use your key card to go to any floor, but the reader rarely worked. We joked with other guests about how it's a crapshoot whether or not you'll actually be able to get off on your floor. You could be riding up and down just trying to get lucky and get off on your floor. The breakfast was nice. The same items repeated but they were good. The eggs were especially tasty, in my opinion. The staff kept the food well stocked and the area was clean. But the real problem was the hot water in our room. The water never got hot at the bathroom sink. It took at least 15 minutes for the shower to get lukewarm. When I asked the hotel staff about it, they said "yes, it takes 5-10 minutes to get hot water." Even 5-10 minutes would have been nicer than what we experienced, but we thought it was odd that it was acceptable to the staff that it could take a while to get hot water. The bed was comfy, the view was nice, the staff was very friendly. Not sure I'd stay again though. Nice rooms with great staff, Oran with valet was incredibly helpful with helping us look for parking and ultimately helping us out with pricing for parking at the hotel when he didn’t have to.
