    Wonderful , relaxing time!

    This is the second time that my husband and I have stayed at Gilbert’s and had a Wonderful Time! We also saw several updated changes this time that has added to the charm! Every person working there were so friendly, welcoming and helpful! Sending a special thank you to Jennifer and Kevin in the front office, Henry the maintenance man, Kayla our waitress, Snook our waiter, and David our busboy in the tiki bar for taking such good care of us! This resort had absolutely everything that we needed! The only thing that we think could possibly need a little help would be the television reception in our room but hey we really don’t go there to watch TV anyway!

    Lovey lunch with my man! Great staff: George and Andrew. We had the two top sellers: stuff hog fish and blackened Mahi with shrimp. Both were delicious. Beers were free flowing and the lunch was great.

    Fantastic place and a real Florida keys vibe

    If you are looking for real Florida Keys experience, this is it. Gilbert’s is more than just a hotel, it’s an experience. Our room was on the first floor which comes with the patio right by the water, and we spent a relaxing afternoon watching the boats go by. Restaurant has great food and drinks, and there is live music too. Room was very nice and communal with many amenities. Front desk staff were very helpful with recommendations and assistance throughout our stay. Everyone was nice and friendly, breakfast is basic but has many options and it’s free. If you stay more than one night you can get a beach cabana free of charge, basically it’s your own tiki hut, a piece of heaven. We watched the dolphins swim by, and even saw a manatee. Pool is heated which was nice because it was chilly outside. It was a fantastic stay and we can’t wait to go back.

    Don't stay at Gilbert's

    We stayed one day at Gilberts in early January, 2026. Our room was bright and cheery and mostly up to date. The pool was decent and the tiki bar was nice enough. Unfortunately, our stay ended badly. We were woken by construction directly under our room at 6:30 am with no prior warning. Our water was turned off and we were unable to use the toilet or shower in our room before checking out. We had to use the bathroom in the breakfast area, which was a very sad continental breakfast. When we expressed our disappointment at the lack of warning about the construction we were told there was nothing they could do for us and our stay was mostly good. Our adult son was making a once in a lifetime bicycle ride from Key Largo to Key West in one day. It would have been nice to send him off with a full nights sleep. Their customer service is extremely poor and they never responded to my emails. Booking.com was responsive and helped us, but I can't say the same for Gilbert's or their poorly trained desk staff.

    Beautiful rooms, amazing view, super clean. Highly recommend!!! Great food and live music with an amazing. Gilbert’s resort in key largo is a must when you visit the Florida Keys
