    Very rude receptionists

Check in took forever. I was charged for checking in one hour before check in. Very rude receptionist the following morning 18 May. I asked her about the airport shuttle , she said take an uber. Don’t go there. General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Holiday Inn Ft. I do not recommend this Holiday Inn, go to another on in the area.

We booked here for two nights before our cruise. The first night, we were awakened by a fire alarm at 4:30 am. The fire was on our floor, smoke in the hall, and we had to evacuate immediately, with many still in their pajamas. This was bad enough, but this hotel did not extend ONE THING to help us when they told us we all had to leave and find another place to stay. No phone numbers to call, no help getting our luggage once we were allowed back in. The elevators were out, so we all had to lug our luggage down wet concrete stairs. Thank goodness the firefighters were still there and helped the women and older couples with their luggage. Guess what, it gets worse! When we tried to get our money refunded for that night, the answer was NO. I have tried to talk with the reservation service, and they stated the management of this particular Holiday Inn will not refund for the night we were there. General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Holiday Inn Ft. Lauderdale-airport By IHG, responded to this review Dear Guest,We are truly sorry to hear about the distressing experience you encountered during your stay. Being evacuated unexpectedly in the early hours, along with the challenges of navigating the property and managing your luggage, must have been upsetting. We realize evacuation in the middle of the night is not a pleasant experience. However, in a situation such as this, the safety of our guests takes priority over everything else. We apologize for disturbing your sleep and hope you understand the necessity of the action we took. Regarding your refund request, we will share this with the appropriate team members and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We hope you might consider giving us another opportunity to provide a much smoother and more comfortable stay in the future.Michael GillmerGeneral Manager

    A great comfortable stay

    rating09 Jan 2026

We stayed here before going on a Caribbean Cruise to get over jetlag beforehand. Reception were always extremely helpful, inparticular Marshall, who arranged a taxi to pick us up as being from abroad, we were unable to get an Uber etc. The room was clean and the blueberry pancakes for breakfast were delicious. Thank you to the bar ladies and Eileen and the breakfast staff for a great stay. The atmosphere was friendly and the room fees reasonable. We didn’t notice any untoward noise levels. It was a 15 minute drive to the cruise port, and we were able to arrange for ‘Joe’ to take us via reception, for a low cost rate. Thanks! The constant dripping of water in room 408 made it impossible for me to sleep, and despite my complaints, the hotel staff were unable to fix the problem. I captured the sound of water dripping on camera, and it's astonishing how much it sounds like someone is using a nail gun. Marriott Hotels, Guest Services / Front Office at Holiday Inn Ft. Lauderdale-airport By IHG, responded to this review Dear J4256YLjayj,Thank you for sharing your experience, and we are truly sorry for the disturbance you faced during your stay. The persistent noise you described is frustrating, and we understand how difficult it must have been to rest under those conditions. While our team attempted to address the issue, it’s clear the resolution fell short, and for that, we offer a sincere apology. Your feedback helps us identify areas that require additional maintenance, and we are addressing these issues to prevent similar disruptions in the future. We appreciate your patience and hope you will consider giving us another opportunity to provide a more peaceful and comfortable stay.Michael GillmerGeneral Manager
