    Amazing Beach!

    rating02 Apr 2026

Awesome apartment and unbelievable beachfront. Lots of good stuff to say about this place, especially the views from the upper floors. The pool area is nice but a bit small; however, not too crowded. Probably because everyone is on the beach - can’t blame them. The beach sand is amazing. Staff is very friendly and quick to help. There were a few maintenance issues that we wish they would address long term. We ran out of hot water nightly and our clothes washer was broken. Both important items when staying for several days. The traffic on the crazy 2 lane road on Fort Meyers beach is horrible. So, go to the grocery store and stay put!

    Beautiful condo with amazing views

    rating13 Oct 2025

We were hesitant to book here because of the construction but decided to do it because it was located right on the beach. Yes, there is construction going on, yes you will hear banging, drilling and sawing outside your unit, like on the patio and even faintly at the beach. We did not hear anything inside the unit, we were in a beach facing unit on 9th floor. The condo was very nice and spacious, beautifully decorated and provided everything we needed. The views were stunning, and the beach was huge and had very little people on it for the entirety of our stay. We loved our stay and will definitely book again. The only negatives were obviously the construction, and the beds were super firm as well as the living room couches. I know they have to put durable furniture in rentals, but these were very uncomfortable although would not keep us from returning. Hopefully this helps anyone wondering how the place is during the construction.

    Lovely spot on the beach!

    rating07 Apr 2025

This place is right on the beach, and what a beach it is! Huge lovely white sand beach! Beach chairs and umbrellas are available. The place we stayed was great! Very clean, comfortable and well stocked with everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped, and even laundry soap available! A nice child friendly pool in the back, not too deep. Lots of reconstruction along the street, they are hard at work rebuilding after the hurricane damage. Would highly recommend staying here!

Beware of being missold about the current situation

    rating10 Sept 2024

Alongside my family and friends, I’ve been coming to gullwing every year for the last 12yrs or so, it’s always felt like coming home. We were desperate to make it back after the hurricane and show support for the community, the warned construction noise would be no problem just to get back ‘home’ and support. However, we can’t help but feel missold. We had paid a very high rate for the beachfront property, on arrival we discovered the entire suite windows were wrapped in blue clingfilm as they were new and needed to be protected from the ongoing exterior works to the facade. We felt very bad complaining given the works are a result of hurricane damage but when paying over four figures just for the view we couldn’t justify this. We complained on arrival and the (understanding and kind) manager gave us a slight discount ($400 total) which we accepted. However in hindsight we wished we asked to revert to the bay view (the difference in rate across the 5n was $1k). The climgfilm distorted the view and made it blue so the entire apartment was dark even at sun peak. It made being in the apartment quite miserable in all honesty. Because of the ongoing exterior works there are mast climbers (working platforms) wrapping the front meaning that between 7-6, you can expect workers to be stationed outside your windows. This meant during these hours we had to keep the shutters by the dining table shut and the curtains drawn when coming up in our bathers for lunch, etc. The main bedroom door onto the balcony is also wrapped with opaque black wrap for privacy due to the workers being able to see in but again makes the room incredibly dark with the other window also wrapped! Because of the exterior works, there was a whole host of construction materials constantly in the pool. Not once across the five days did we see anybody cleaning it out. I wish we were exaggerating and it was just a case of dust, but please see photos taken each day. This seriously worried us from a H&S POV given that it was overwhelming insulation materials which are not good for your health and can contain asbestos and other carcogenics when consumed or in repeat contact with. The pool was swimming with it. They have big catch fans (nets from scaffolding) in attempts to stop materials but these were all ripped so did not provide much help, but maintenance should be reviewing the pool regularly throughout the day whilst these works take place. Because of the hurricane, the mosquito and noseeum situation has got horrendous - you will be attacked. This is not the fault of gullwing but the balcony fly nets are also ripped or missing and not yet been replaced. I appreciate this fills ‘nitpicky’ but it makes sitting on the balcony in the evening impossible. When all the windows are then blue and covered, you can imagine you feel slightly trapped. The hot tub throughout the entire stay was also cold, the pool out of use for 1d and the balcony has been stripped of its wall covering so you are looking at bare cement. There are also stray screws, bolts, fixings and poles left on the balcony. I actually went flying over one of the larger bolt fixings as it was so big I presumed it was fixed to the ground but no - it had actually just been left there and forgotten about! We swept all of these into a corner and we’re grateful our young nieces and nephews hadn’t been travelling with us this time.I am so glad that gullwing has managed to fight back and open, the staff are OK and the community is as resilient as it is. Fort Myers is something special and always will be. However, I think they need to be more honest with the current situation as the front suites should not be in use or heavily discounted with full information on the current state. All other open hotels waited until they were fully ready to reopen and gullwing should have waited. Our suite at least was not ready to take guests! We felt missold and wished they had been upfront and we would have booked a different suite and used the saving to travel again. We come all the way from London and this is a luxury for us, but it was seriously misrepresented and missold but you feel you cannot complain given the circumstances resulted from a catastrophic hurricane. This has put us off returning given we were missold and I think we will be considering a different hotel next time. This was not what we paid for and so disappointing, ripped off in all honesty.

    Room 1202

    rating09 Sept 2024

Spacious and beautifully decorated. The 2 extra bedrooms were not used as you can see the masters bed is unmade as this was checkout. The 2 patios off of the master bedroom was great for viewing front and side views. There was plenty of extra towels and blankets as well
