Loved this beautiful hotel!!
30 Mar 2026
Having stayed at a hotel along the water last time, we wanted to see another area of Galveston and decided on the Tremont House. I’m glad we did as our whole experience was lovely. Here’s what I liked and what were a few small things to be aware of, which in the end were a non-issue considering everything else was so great. For reference, we had a Deluxe Queen/Queen room in the main building. Positives:1. Location. You are right near the main drag of The Strand. So easy to get to shops and restaurants. Quick shuttle ride to the cruise piers. 2. Every aspect of the hotel is beautiful, from the lobby to the rooms. Stunning. Loved all the decor. Can’t say enough here. 3. Incredibly high ceilings in the room made it feel really grand. Very comfy bed. 4. Lovely rooftop bar with attentive, caring and friendly service. 5. Nice selection of food and drinks all around the property. Considering it’s a hotel, I found food and drinks prices quite reasonable compared to hotels in other cities. (The reasonable pricing goes for outside the hotel too) 6. Friendly staff throughout, including the cruise shuttle driver. Things to keep in mind:1. The bathroom in the deluxe queen/queen room is tiny. 2. Considering the close proximity of the cruise piers, particularly the dock Princess used, the $15pp cruise shuttle charge seemed a tad high. That being said, I would use it again rather than fighting for Ubers with all other incoming and outgoing cruise guests in the city/onboard. 3. Depending on the day of the week you are there, it can be a busy, full and bustling hotel with cruise guests, wedding parties, big families etc. 4. Views from our specific room included the alley and back side of a building behind the hotel. Overall, we absolutely loved this hotel. It’s charming, special and historical, but has been modernized in a beautiful way as much as possible. On any future visits back to Galveston, this will definitely be our first choice for accommodations!

Gem of the Strand
11 Mar 2026
We loved this hotel. Location was perfect. Food options were very good. The rooftop bar/restaurant was pricey, but hey, your paying for the view. The sunset was amazing from there. All staff members were extremely helpful and kind even though they were all very busy (Mardi Gras). The room was fabulous. It was very well appointed and large. I would book this hotel again without hesitation. Side note: If you research, you will find reports of hauntings (which I did experience), but nothing scary.

Tremont Hotel

Staying in Galveston for a cruise. This is my 2nd stay at the Tremont Hotel; once in the main hotel and this time in The Lofts Building which is 2 blocks away from main hotel. I'm currently in the 2 bedroom loft room 6202 and it is beautiful. There are high ceilings, exposed brick wall, full kitchen, living and dining area, 2 bathrooms and a huge (@28'x13') patio. Be aware that there is no lobby or staff at the Loft Building. It is very quiet. You use your key to enter the building. For services such as bar, restaurant, breakfast in morning, you must go to the main hotel. The staff at Tremont is amazing. Shout out to Denise Jacoby at the front desk! There was a big group of people and she was so busy but when it was my turn she greeted me warmly and was friendly and professional. She made me feel so welcome. I really appreciated that she took the time to walk with me outside and walked me around the corner to show me the loft building where I would be staying. Having Denise as my front desk receptionist made the start of my vacation wonderful and will keep me returning here.

Bad experience
25 Feb 2026
Bad experience. Our room had a sewer smell. We arranged to move rooms but the new one was like an ice locker and we called front desk to fix it. We were told that the heat hadn't been turned on. A janitor came to fix it but the room still was extremely cold. I eventually turned it off. The new room bathroom had very low water pressure and barely any water came from the bathroom fawcets. Not only that but our friends we were staying with got stuck between floors in the elevator for half an hour. We were glad to get home

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I'm sorry to hear about the challenges you faced during your stay, including the discomfort with the rooms, water pressure issues, and your friends' incident in the elevator. Your feedback is important, and I understand how frustrating these situations must have been. We appreciate you bringing them to attention, and it’s unfortunate that your visit didn’t meet expectations. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
